Fleet @fleetadmiralj.bsky.social · 6hBut also this is why I kind of roll my eyes at bashing conservative dems who vote for things when it doesn't change the outcome. When dems do it they're republicans. When republicans do it, they're still republicans. Well which is it? Does it matter or not? 120
Fleet @fleetadmiralj.bsky.social · 6hThe ruling that immunized Trump is perhaps the most anti-constitutional ruling in the court's history. It is certainly up there in the top 5 probably at least. It's absurd the founders meant to set up a situation where the POTUS was immune and also he could pardon anyone who wasn't. 000
Fleet @fleetadmiralj.bsky.social · 6hThere are countless articles of people insisting Trump only meant "the bad ones." My favorite was *an undocumented immigrant* insisting Trump just meant the *bad* undocumented immigrants. I wonder what they think now. 000
Fleet @fleetadmiralj.bsky.social · 6hMajor Question doctrine has more or less gone on vacation under Trump, unless there is just some particular ruling Roberts wants to use to try to prove the court is still fair and balanced. 110
Fleet @fleetadmiralj.bsky.social · 6hLike, perhaps the classic example is Biden can't do *anything* administratively, but Trump can more or less do whatever he wants unless there is an explicit congressional prohobition they can't just explain away. 110
Fleet @fleetadmiralj.bsky.social · 6hThis is why 2024 was kind of wild because Trump was very clear that his opinion was "deport them all," using language calling them all criminals. And people heard that and concluded he just meant criminals as THEY defined it, not realizing he was calling them all criminals no matter what. 120

Fleet @fleetadmiralj.bsky.social · 6hI would normally give a pretty big deference to the latter, but the fact that a lot of their decisions has just basically lies in them, or the logic in one decision contradicts the logic in another based on how they want to rule, it is really hard not to conclude the former. 120
