iiinova — where your digital self keeps evolving

I am so frustrated with the people around me and to be honest at every one in the country being swept up in this. I feel too young to be this jaded.

000

There are 2 community litter picks a month and I try to attend one. There is always at least 2 councillors there out of the 3 adjoining constituencies. The guy who runs it is the guy that LOST to this reform bloke. He is there every time. This reform bloke has NEVER shown his face once.

100

And if the vote were to happen again today: I bet the same thing would happen. We still have tatty looking flags up from when the appeared overnight on every pissing lamp post. We have more Indian take aways and Turkish barbers than anything else.

100

I’m not saying this in an “I-told-you-so-way”. I’m saying this as someone who lives here and is frustrated. The people around me have voted this man in on nothing but that he is racist when the other candidates do so much locally. I see them at events. I am so angry. He has done nothing.

100

He does not respond to emails when people email him. The other two councillors are basically taking on his share of the work because no one can contact him. It took him a month to make a Facebook page and all he has on it is a profile picture and a header. I’ve never seen him post anything anywhere.

101

Bear in mind: this is a local councillor. He is there to sort out pot holes &planning permission and too much litter. This was in May. I spoke to the 2 other councillors (Labour) &they never see him. Spoken to him once. No one locally has ever seen him in the town at anything. He doesn’t live here.

100

the town in live in (north-west) had a councillor spot up at the last by-election (pre-manchester-mayor) &reform won over labour. even more importantly, all the other candidates were actually involved in the community& I had never heard of this man before. He ran on “getting rid of immigrants”.

every time I search up a heated rivalry fanfic and see Our Flag Means Death in the author’s previous works it feels like running into a friend-of-a-friend when you’re on holiday in another country 🥹

for any OFMD people who are looking to support the RNLI after the recent happenings in portstmouth: they are selling a book of sea shanties and lots of nautical/lighthouse themed memorabilia on their gift shop online. Also could buy your Christmas cards and hampers etc from them

This was a letter signed by “people of note” against Section 28 and was in the newspaper in March 1988. Some of the names I recognised: Billy Connolly, Lenny Henry, Joanna Lumley, Ian McKellen, Willy Russell, Pet Shop Boys, Tilda Swinton, Benjamin Zephaniah

original pits and perverts tshirt (anyone who has seen Pride (2014) film will recognise)

Pits and perverts (LGSM) tshirt on the left and then a similar design on the right to support the rail workers (in their strike about 2/3 years ago)

110

If anyone is interested there is an exhibit in at the people’s history museum regarding strikes and protests and there is some of the banners from LGSM (lesbians and gays support the miners) and some stuff about the implementation and then reversal (and the fight for it) of section 28

recycled my izzy hands leather vest to wear to rocky horror picture show last night so I can justify to myself keeping it in my wardrobe even tho there are no ofmd events to wear it to

this grey tshirt I’ve had since I was 14 (14 yrs ago) and is more holes than tshirt at this point. it’s so comfortable & so loved. it’s a collage of all the mending techniques I’ve tried to teach myself. just used darning on the latest rip. used thread that was more yarn-like & so it’s a bit loose

020

speaking of…I’m learning darning on the train 💪 bit messy but it’s my first try

My workplace (which calls itself a sustainability champion) is having an AI celebration where everyone is going to get together and talk about how much they love generative AI and how they have thought of ways to use it in their everyday life

Funny how Save the Children always means harassing queer people and sex workers but never means cleaning out the pedophiles in your church.

Under a Binface government, anyone who doesn’t accept human-made climate change as fact will be sent back to school, from Year 1 right the way to A Levels, to see if anything goes in the second time round. #VoteBinface

I don’t really have friends and the ones I do have have never shown any interest so it’s nice to have a new person to chew the ear off about something I love

I know it’s all old history now but this show & the people part of it & the representation and the fandom have been so important to me even if I am basically just a lurker. I will probably talk about These Days for the rest of my life (/genuine) & the S3 campaign was truly a one of a kind experience
