As exciting as a lucky dice roll can be in a story-heavy game, they often feel like a vestigial holdover from TTRPGs, where the abstraction of dice for social/story checks is necessary to keep events flowing forward. There also isn't savescumming in TTRPGs. Players have to adapt to a bad roll...

AI is only useful as a political term, not a technological one. Most modern "production tools" will implement some form of ML, and will need training data. Any given language model, regardless of data sourcing, will be using "another writer's work repurposed" to function in the first place.
