Today on my bicycle I: - went to the exercise studio - went to try on shoes - got a slice of pizza - went grocery shopping It took me (and my wallet) to Somerville, Boston, and Cambridge. And all on such a nice day 🍁🍂

the bike lane is separated from the road. They did a nice job with the planters/green conflict paint. Trees separate the sidewalk as well. It looks like the sidewalk is wide and there would be plenty of space to go around someone walking or exiting a car in the bike area

it was one of the first chilly autumn mornings and I didn't wear gloves to commute into work and fingies = cold. I saw a cop in an SUV idling on the side of the road and I wished that instead they had a free hot cocoa tailgate situation

I see a lot of commenters saying they want rail instead. I don't believe these people actually want that, they just shift goalposts to something that isn't readily attainable to avoid change altogether. If a rail project was proposed and it threatened parking they'd rail against it, too.

LOVE cats. HATE inflatables. Time to write a kids book in which a witch teams up with this cat and destroys inflatables, Grinch-style. All the marine life killed by discarded inflatables that end up in the waste stream and our oceans comes back to life and haunts suburban homeowners. The end.

My route to get into the heart of Somerville-- West Broadway > Holland > Elm-- was so bad (no bike lanes, poor road surface) that I used Mass Ave to circumnavigate my own city, spending money/time in Cambridge instead. But now?! The green carpet is rolling out and we're so back!

I was yelled at for biking on the sidewalk ONE block to my street, next to a four-lane parkway. He said I "should be over there" on the greenway path and I was like "Sir, I live on this street" and he was like THEN YOU SHOULD WALK, YOU CANT HAVE IT BOTH WAYS and then called me a Karen lol

I was determined to get fenders on a bike with no attachment points. I made a chainstay bridge from a cork. It has stayed in place for years! But BOY was it annoying 😂 Good for you for persevering and getting yer mud puppies on✊

A wine cork is wedged in the chain stay of a chrome bike frame. It is secured by zip ties, although the cork actually expanded into the space and didn't really need them. A screw is securing the rear fender, as was the goal. It's a mess but it works!

It's ok! I think the issue is having *enough* of whichever type to sustain hungry caterpillars from egg to pupa. Common Milkweed is goated because their leaves are so big and broad but swamp/butterfly milkweed has fine leaves - more aesthetic for us, less sustenance for them!

(just wanted to add - you shouldn't regret how you felt at the time and you're not a sucker. Everyone there was in emotional pain and Mr. Rogers told us to look for the helpers - we all want to believe that Mayor Wu is a helper. She has every opportunity to be one. Fake crying gets to me in the hypersensitive, borderline violent way that open-mouth chewing can, and she was straight-up sniveling. I had to turn around; the second-hand embarrassment was like physically hurting me. It wasn't for Louisa, it was for her, and it was gross and it was embarrassing.

I think this is probably a rough chuckle for folks who have lost friends, family, neighbors, coworkers this way. These deaths are often trivialized, and people who were crushed to death by trucks are posthumously blamed. I smiled wryly, but I can see why some might not!
