99 years ago, The Jazz Singer effectively marked the end of silent movies. Today marks the end of Warner as a studio, and the beginning of it being a “boutique brand” offered by Skydance. Movie history is lost in the same way as Disney eating 20th Century Fox did.

Here’s the most incredible story you’ll read today. A small plane with four people aboard crashes in a field. Another pilot witnesses it. That pilot happens to be flying a bunch of skydivers. They offer to jump to assist, are given permission. The skydivers happen to be EMTs. Everyone survives.

I liked Ely in this and the casting of Doc’s aides is all pretty good, but the script itself… yikes. Shane Black’s script from a few years ago was much more in tune with the original pulps, but I couldn’t see Dwayne Johnson as Doc.

I find it ironic that this blew up right after I saw BATMAN ‘89 in the theater on Friday, and was reminded how some folks had a tizzy when Michael “Mr Mom” Keaton was announced as playing Bruce Wayne/Batman.
