I'm on the train from Montréal to Toronto. There's just been a reminder that it is MANDATORY to use headphones when watching video. I can't believe this guys have resorted to legislation, rather than our system of having 75% of the carriage sit in murderous, futile rage.

As Europe is being hit by an enormous heatwave, made much likelier by the fact we keep on burning huge quantities of oil and gas and coal every year, we can reveal some of the likely results… Anyway, on other pages… From the new Private Eye, out now.

It was inevitable, wasn't it🙄 Of course the Telegraph would run with something like this👇 So let's remove some of the rose-tinted spectacles and also look at some of that data comparing 1976 with modern heat waves Because the 1976 nostalgia porn is wearing a bit thin at this stage 🧵1/23
Telegraph headiline:

"Heatwave hysterics wouldn't have lasted a day in 1976", overlaid with a bold “MONK DEBUNKED” stamp.

If you have a platform, use it to speak for those whose voices are not heard. Society is a better place when we stand up to be counted. It is heartening, in these days of wall-to-wall televised breathlessness for the politics of hate, to see ordinary folk voting for inclusion #GaryLineker
