Some of the cyberpunk stuff is done well though, I'll watch a few more just to see what they do with that alone. They had interesting takes on braindiving and ghosthacking that weren't really depicted in detail in previous adaptations I've seen.

As interesting as it was when reading the manga to get used to the goofiness of the characters that was stripped away for the movie and Stand Alone Complex, I much prefer the tone & topics of the latter adaptations overall. The new show has some great elements, but the chibi-face stuff is jarring.

Watched the first episode of the new "The Ghost in the Shell" and it seems my thoughts are reflected in the online consensus of "This is a really faithful adaptation of the original source material" and "That isn't exactly a good thing".

It is bizarre that this whole thing around rationalist sex parties combines my usual facinations in cults, silicon valleyness, rationalists, & even involves named people I'm aware of; despite such an interlinked venn diagram of interests, I find the whole thing so mentally repulsive to try read into

Exactly! A considerable amount of over-formatting was also part of it. The first hint I had at what was actually happening was how the 2nd paragraph was titled in bold (but the paragraph itself did not actually say anything the title alluded to)

I have some dupe Facebook accounts that I used to play around with, one just accepted any and all friends requests sent to it. This was before the ai boom, but the timeline was just wall to wall bots and extreme far-right madness after a couple months. It was my digital fishbowl.

Dear colleagues, If you are going to use AI to write a support ticket email for assistance with an issue, please ensure that the actual issue you need help with is defined or at least mentioned in the first 3 paragraphs it has spent describing how important it is that it be fixed. Thank you.
