Sounds good to me! Best of luck with your crunch mode project!

I’ve been doing some wacky stuff with wine on Mac recently, which’ll run intel windows apps fairly seamlessly. Haven’t tried running a CS that way though. I wouldn’t mind chatting to help experiment through that with ya

I’ve had a snow leopard vm with CS3 installed in it for emergencies. There are better ways to do that now, but yeah any of the CS’s have a more solid and predictable workflow (annoyingly ‘cause I wish affinity worked better)

Several weeks ago, Phil Tippett's legendary animation studio in Berkeley, CA closed. An anonymous hero noticed a folder of CDs. This turned out to be hundreds of unseen hi-res images and videos from Star Wars, Robocop, Jurassic Park, etc. ~90 isos for you to browse: archive.org/details/tipp...

A casual Star Wars alien fella at the cantina, in a sun faded, reddish photo. Someone will be mad at me for not knowing who this is.

Phil, a balding Caucasian man, poses a model of the garthok, an antagonist from the Coneheads movie.

Phil, a balding caucasian man, points at some CG on a CRT computer monitor, as a younger man looks on. The screen shows a model of a dinosaur attacking a jeep, while there's an actual physical model of that event in the foreground for reference.

an isolated shot of a star wars vehicle. Sorry, I don't know star wars lol

A not-so-shocking follow-on to this is huge swaths of tech thinking that *software engineering* itself is beneath them now. Understanding and problem-solving has gone out the window.

What an adventure this has been. Despite everything, we had a great time at the wedding! It was nice to catch up with family we haven’t seen in a long time.

Thanks to @jaredhead.bsky.social for rescuing us and to @kangamutt.bsky.social for joining us for dinner on our unplanned extra day. Now @tracey.science and I are boarded on a flight back home. Then, we’ll start shopping around for a new car.

FennecusKitsune🏳️‍⚧️ @fennecuskitsune.bsky.social · 21/09/2026

Once we got up to Castaic and returned the truck, the mechanic said he’d take the car off our hands and took some money off the repair bill for the salvage price. That thankfully took a lot of stress away from us.

Sadly we've decided to total the car. After making some calls, we found a salvage yard that should be able to take it as long as we can get it there by 4. We already booked flights home for tomorrow. So now, @tracey.science and I are in a race against time, getting back up to Castaic in a U-Haul…

FennecusKitsune🏳️‍⚧️ @fennecuskitsune.bsky.social · 20/09/2026

So glad you got to make it there! I’m a little disappointed I missed it this year after how much fun we had last year. I’ll look forward to the next one!

FennecusKitsune🏳️‍⚧️ @fennecuskitsune.bsky.social · 20/09/2026

Gonna try to list out a few options with @tracey.science, then sleep on it. We have to drive the U-Haul truck back up to Castaic where the car is no matter what. Might ultimately fly back home.

FennecusKitsune🏳️‍⚧️ @fennecuskitsune.bsky.social · 20/09/2026

Another update! Radiator replaced, but more bad news: apparently the head gasket is blown (from the loss of cooling system). Now we’re reaching the point where repairing it borderline more than what it’s worth. Car’s 12 years old, and has been reliable til now. We might have to total it…

We left the car in Castaic and rented a U-Haul to take us the rest of the way. Got to our hotel around midnight, and finally going to eat dinner from Taco Bell. But we have to get it delivered because the U-Haul can’t fit through the drive thru and the inside is closed.

FennecusKitsune🏳️‍⚧️ @fennecuskitsune.bsky.social · 19/09/2026

We made it to the hotel yay! Already got a quote on the car fix 💸

180

FennecusKitsune🏳️‍⚧️ @fennecuskitsune.bsky.social · 19/09/2026

Finally on the road again! Hopefully mechanics can find a replacement radiator. Still have about an hour left to drive.

FennecusKitsune🏳️‍⚧️ @fennecuskitsune.bsky.social · 19/09/2026

The only option the agent gave us was to take the much larger moving truck that was blocking in the sensible sized van. Not to like let us move the thing 5 feet and return the keys for the small one, so big truck it is.

180

FennecusKitsune🏳️‍⚧️ @fennecuskitsune.bsky.social · 19/09/2026

Update: currently on-foot in Castaic. Decided to try to book one of those short-term U-haul vans since the pickup/drop off is close to the mechanic. Unfortunately the app picked a van that is blocked in and there’s no humans around to fix that, so now we’re on hold.

I’m on an adventure with @tracey.science! We’re headed to a wedding in So Cal, but the car overheated on I5-S on the grapevine and wouldn’t cool down. Got a tow down the mountain and eventually got a mechanic to look at it. Radiator’s got a big crack in it, and the juices have all spewed out!

Photo from inside the car, while waiting on a tow on I5-S. The hood is popped open to let the engine cool off. It’s sunset!
