Peptide Family Promotes Brain Cell Rejuvenation and Improved Cognition through Peripheral Delivery
Ligands targeting folate receptor α (FRα), a protein predominantly expressed in neural cells, have the potential to reprogram (rejuvenate) brain cells and enhance cognitive function in aged mice. In t...

The long-interspersed elements (LINE-1-L1) represent the main active family of retrotransposons in the human organism. This study from our lab advances our understanding of L1 dynamics in the CNS and accentuates the significance of L1 in age-related neurological changes www.mdpi.com/1422-0067/26...

Lithium deficiency and the onset of Alzheimer’s disease - Nature
Lithium has an essential role in the brain and is deficient early in Alzheimer’s disease, which can be recapitulated in mice and treated with a novel lithium salt that restores the physiological level.

Marathon runners tap brain-cell insulation for racetime fuel
MRI scans suggest runners’ brains might use the fatty substance myelin as fuel. The finding could lead to treatments for neurological diseases.

We have published in Prog Neurobiol (www.sciencedirect.com/science/arti...) a study showing the effect of controlled overexpression of Yamanaka factors in a transgenic model of Alzheimer's disease. We have been able to improve spatial memory in mice and reduce inflammation and tau protein levels.

The brain microbiome: could understanding it help prevent dementia?
Long thought to be sterile, our brains are now believed to harbour all sorts of micro-organisms, from bacteria to fungi. How big a part do they play in Alzheimer’s and similar diseases?
