Vibe coded programs are extremely dangerous. You have no idea wtf the code is made to do, and neither does the person distributing it. Like sure, it could infect your PC or create backdoors, but also memory leaks, render files unusable, brick it so you can't boot, anything Do not install them

In Super Mario 64, tiny slivers of exposed out-of-bounds areas will cause Mario to bonk if he collides with them. However, the exact same scenario in Super Mario Sunshine is much more cruel to Mario. Here, instead of merely bonking, Mario will break his spine.

Experimental post: The Duality of Whacka In the Switch version of Paper Mario: The Thousand-Year Door, Whacka can finally be fought, and has a suspiciously specific 108 HP. The game both offers a ridiculously simplistic explanation for this as well as a complex one steeped in Dharmic symbolism.

In Paper Mario, the original version of Paper Mario: The Thousand-Year Door, and Super Paper Mario, Whacka was just a harmless whack-a-mole creature that could be abused to get Whacka Bumps, extremely valuable healing items. After being hit enough times, the Whacka goes extinct, teaching the players the consequences of their actions. However, in the Switch version of Paper Mario: TTYD, he instead moves to the bottom of the Pit of 100 Trials and becomes an optional superboss with 108 HP.
He is fought at the bottom of the Pit of 100 Trials and has to be hit 8 times in order for the fight to activate.
but also
The number 108 is considered sacred by the Dharmic religions, such as Hinduism, Buddhism, and Jainism.
Whacka symbolizes karma for killing him in past games
ring the bell 108 times, per Japanese tradition? The ringing of the bell represents the 108 bonno-defilements of man..
Buddhism holds the view that there are precisely 108 temptations on the path to Nirvana.
Therefore, in order to reach Nirvana, every Buddhist must resist 108 earthly temptations.
With a combination of any of the elements of the above four factors, there are 108 ways with which the karmas can be attracted to the soul.
the earthly temptation to get those Whacka Bumps
There are 108 qualities of praiseworthy souls
Some people think that the human spirit travels through 108 stages, while others believe that enlightenment is attainable with just 108 breaths each day while in Intense meditation,
108 beads to awaken your inner light
Meditators count mantra repetitions with mala beads of 108, (100 counted for self, 8 for mistakes and for those who have not the opportunity to meditate in mantra)
108 breaths to return to your truth
108 mantras to dissolve ego into dever
108 steps from the self to the soul
The Sacred Meaning of 108 Temple Steps
the journey to Whacka is a journey of enlightenment

regardless i think arkveld has the gravitas that neither nergigante, velkhana, magnamalo, nor malzeno ever really came close to having for me despite all of them conceptually being rather fascinating. especially the music that plays as it erupts into battle to go up against the player character

Bernie @feelthebern776.bsky.social · 04/10/2026

the reason it took so long for me to even realize how much arkveld's story is some of the best in more than a decade for a flagship monster is because much of it was undercut but a certain character associated with it and also the way the game handled its main story wasn't good

Bernie @feelthebern776.bsky.social · 04/10/2026

it was created out of a taboo desire to artificially revive a formerly extinct flying wyvern species and in the wyverians' folly has shown to be an invasive species as its battle tempered tendencies lead it to don the powers it once had when it was an artificial creation, wreaking untold destruction

Bernie @feelthebern776.bsky.social · 04/10/2026

it doesn't have nearly the same amount of story encounters as gore did yet it's proven to be just as stubborn as it ends up breaking free of its proverbial shackles in its desire to become an organic lifeform and actually succeeds, leading it to become something truly frightening

Bernie @feelthebern776.bsky.social · 04/10/2026

its existence is learned from the get go as it nearly wipes out an entire settlement, prompting a faction from the hunters guild to be formed, amassing a number of veteran hunters, to investigate the forbidden lands where it's later seen dominating over each of the land's apex predators

Bernie @feelthebern776.bsky.social · 04/10/2026

the more i think about it the more i feel like arkveld is the best flagship in monhun since gore magala

In Paper Mario, Mayor Penguin is found seemingly dead, with Mario being suspected of his murder. However, if a letter is delivered to him during that time, he will get up, thank Mario, and promptly go back to being dead. Unfortunately, this cannot prove Mario's innocence.
