We are either idiots or didn’t work hard enough for sanity. We saw the danger but naively thought that fellow Americans could not POSSIBLY, when it came down to it, vote for Trump. I will never understand why Catholics throw in with a man who gets the majority of his support from those who do not even consider Catholics to be Christian. Senator Booker, get some fellow Congress members to go with you and GET THIS GUY BACK. At the very least, SEE him. Contact the Catholic Church in El Salvador and have them run interference for you. Have them go see the man first. Surely they have prison outreach, if the US Embassy has no access.

Chasten and I are relieved that Governor Shapiro and his family are safe. While we wait to learn more, this much is clear: the targeting of a public official and his family - especially a prominent Jewish official on a major Jewish holiday - is unconscionable and has no place in our country.
