LinkedIn is full of people "just asking questions" about whether AI is sentient. All of them are people who have AI in their bio or job title. It makes me feel insane. If you think AI is sentient then y'all are advocating slavery and human experimentation at this point. But they don't see it

I guess there's a fear of overhyping the results? A proper scientific paper (as in, not a crackpot one) usually mentions its weaknesses and warns against overgeneralisation, which won't sit well with the public.

Sorry for replying in English. I've worked in scientific research for a decade, and a big part of the problem is that scientific publication is largely monopolised by a handful of commercial companies (Elsevier, Wiley, etc.) which charge scientists a lot of money to publish their research.
