Predators, especially ones that stalked through them silently to catch prey, those unaware of what waited to pounce when they were most vulnerable. While typically these wild predators are larger beasts and birds of prey, the forest had a predator much more dangerous stalking in the darkness tonight.

A humanoid.

One with the shadows, a lithe figure in dark travel clothes skulked through the shade of the trees, his near-silent footsteps his only companion, as even the creatures of the night knew danger lurked nearby. In the daylight, he’s overlooked as nothing more than your typical traveling bard of unfortunate origins. But in the shadows? He was a spider waiting for its prey to walk into his web before pouncing for the kill, leaving nothing behind but a stiff corpse and the mark of a spider carved into its flesh. He was a honed blade dealing out the venom of his mistress to those that called for her fangs to right wrongs and seek vengeance. It was all he knew, and he sought comfort in his work, being the only way to appease his mistress for his past transgressions. He’d earn his place among her brood, using the bodies of his targets to climb to that spot if he must."
