How did yall get your POTS diagnosed? I’m struggling with inconsistent bouts of nearly fainting when I change positions. Last year, my primary care doctor did a half assed “test” on a good day and wrote me off.

I’m being intentionally provoked by a Midwesterner
Text conversation screenshot about bagels. I said, “Oh, and ask for cream cheese!
They usually have many varieties mixed in-house.” They said, “Cream cheese? Growing up we ate bagels with mayo. Will they have that?” I said, “Mayo??” They said, “Or corn butter”.

Driverless cars might make sense to me in a world where public transit was abundant & good, cyclists & pedestrians had ample safe space on streets, police weren’t closely colluding with tech companies, and former drivers were well supported in other jobs. Unfortunately, we don’t live in that world.

Yes every woman has been harassed, many assaulted. But every woman has also experienced invisible loss from moments she avoided harassment. She felt a space becoming unsafe, so she left, while men stayed on. And in leaving, she lost: opportunities, experiences, learning, promotions, even simply fun.

Thousands of drivers are facing losing work to autonomous vehicles. Our proposed ordinance would protect their jobs, Robin Wonsley, Jamal Osman, Aurin Chowdhury and Jason Chavez write.

This Strib story is grotesque. It doesn't just impose their familiar landlord/property-management frame here; it reorganizes the hierarchy of harm around it. A shooting rooted in domestic violence is transformed into a "Real Estate" story about the “dangers” facing landlords and property managers.

Hi folks. Do you have any idea how isolating it is to be trapped behind bars? I know writing an anarchist prisoner is psychologically off-putting because what would you even say and it takes multiple steps (stamps, an envelope, etc) away from your computer. But PLEASE. I can make it easy for you:

still thinking about this one
Photo of crop art from the MN State Fair: a vivid green leg pokes through a dark black hole in a dusty blue ceiling. text reads “the day i fell through the floor” and “may 26, 2026”. The art is made of broccoli, millet, wild rice, brown lentils, and poppy. It’s by Hannah Resendiz Olson from Minneapolis, MN. A tag below reads, “Happy 100th Birthday to my 1926 home! Renovations didn’t quite go to plan… this is my memorialization of the basement’s perspective.”

Wow. Proponents of the ICE taser gloves are openly saying that one reason they love the gloves is that they doesn’t leave any marks or proof that they were used, making it harder for people to sue when they’re shocked excessively.
Mother Jones

"In today's society, you know, everybody's filming everything, everybody has a cell phone," Glueck said. If an officer punches someone on camera, that can go viral in an instant; even a standard taser leaves puncture wounds. But "the glove is low optic, and it looks better on camera, and it looks better to those witnesses. With a glove, there are no burn marks or scars."But local police across the country are still eagerly buying the gloves—in large part so that they can harm people and avoid being sued for it. It's been successful "from the patrolmen to the jailers," Lumpkin County Sheriff Stacy Jarrard said in a Compliant Technologies promotional video. "It's been a great tool as far as mitigating liability," according to Nelson County Jailer Justin Hall.
Bob Couey of the Floyd County Sheriff's Department sung the GLOVE's praises, too: "I highly recommend these gloves to anybody that's looking for a utility they can use that is conducive to not leading to lawsuits."

my ~250-unit apartment building refuses to enable autopay via rentcafe and it’s infuriating. we all have to log in and manually pay every month. this is the only building i’ve ever lived in that allegedly can’t figure it out. i wonder how much they make in $150 late fees every month.
