obviously tolkien did create various languages for middle earth but i find that his attention to language is remembered far too much as merely inventing elaborate “lore” rather than the way that poetic tradition and song and language as culture and politics are woven into middle earth

all right I spent about ten minutes zooming in on the Tengwar to figure out what it actually says and I definitely don't think it's the Ring-inscription but I'm too tired to look at it any more, so instead let's all just agree this is Black Speech for "It's My Party And I'll Cry If I Want To."

I also think discourse around disinformation keeps falling into the trap of treating it as a supply side issue, rather than examining the demand side and what to do about that. That is a far more pressing, and far more complicated, problem.
