Ewan @ewannic.bsky.social · 01/10/2026Oh, I lucked out with teachers at school too. Had some really excellent ones. One taught me Geography GCSE in her own time because I couldn't take that and History. The older I get, the more grateful I am for her doing that. 020
Ewan @ewannic.bsky.social · 01/10/2026My parents paid for music lessons, the local authority invested a lot in weekend arts education, I volunteered for the local MP. So I had some advantages and I've no doubt they helped me get into Cambridge. They just didn't cost my parents £15k /year 110

Ewan @ewannic.bsky.social · 01/10/2026I tend to agree (including with the "loosely held") part. I was a comp kid who got into Cambridge. Some of the private school kids had a different education to mine, I wouldn't say it was better. 120

Ewan @ewannic.bsky.social · 22/09/2026One of the tendencies on Bluesky is to assume that because something hasn't happened yet, the powers that be are useless and will not do the thing. My friends, sometimes things just take a day or two. 110

Ewan @ewannic.bsky.social · 20/09/2026But there's been less debate about underlying paradigms*. So it's not that folk aren't engaged they're just engaged in different levels of the puzzle. If there's a desire to get more engagement with the underlying paradigms, the question is how you incentivize that. 101
Ewan @ewannic.bsky.social · 20/09/2026Think of a hierarchy of events then patterns then systems then paradigms. (E.g. this one: www.cairnleadership.com/systems-thin... ) Where there is engagement it tends to focus on patterns (is there a cost-benefit case for reform?). Sometimes, people come together and you get systematic reform 100

Ewan @ewannic.bsky.social · 13/09/2026Adding in these costs and it becomes more expensive. But if you follow the logic of that argument, you also really need to ask what the infrastructure costs are of *not* investing in green energy generation. Across water, transport, food etc 001
