That's a good point. It's not 1:1.

Obviously based on my initial post at least a part of me agrees with you, but in both cases it's still murder as public spectacle.

Not to ruin a good angry rant, but the more I chew on what I posted the less coherent it seems. Guillotines were famously public executions, so what is the practical difference between that and what I'm so furious about? Who it's pointed at? There's definitely an inconsistency here.

The motherfucking Pentagon is going to livestream an execution by firing squad. Livestream. I have zero trouble believing this is Hegseth's version of clout chasing. Fuck, maybe they can get Mr. Beast to tack on a contest. I'm coming around to @gregdoucette.bsky.social 's view of guillotines.

We live in a time where Barry Goldwater would be considered part of the liberal wing of the Republican Party.

If the document is based on some kind of external requirements/legal document, it could be that each of those sections refers to a similar section in the other doc, so they want 2.5 in this doc to line up with the 2.5 in the other doc. Or they just don't want to renumber everything after 2.5.

I agree "this is your brain on drugs" is definitely more famous, which is too bad, because I 100% agree about "I learned it from watching you." Would be so much more rhetorically useful to deploy these days!

In terms of story pacing Columbo is very much a product of the 70s. Especially during the "villain plans the murder" part.

So I just want to say, since I haven't seen anything about it on my feed, that the HBO Lanterns show is FANTASTIC. Hal Jordan and John Stewart are perfectly cast, they work together fabulously, and I wasn't really sure about the "True Detective but Green Lantern" concept but the story is fantastic.

So I got as far as removing most of the old ceiling fan, but when I started to remove the base I noticed that ALL OF THE WIRES COMING OUT OF THE CEILING WERE WHITE at which point I decided it was time to hire a professional to do this stupid thing.

Self-Publishing Supervillain @eviscerati.org · 06/09/2026
The new ceiling fan has a complete set of instructions on how to install it. The problem I'm running into is there aren't any instruction on how to remove the old one. I assume "with a hammer and crowbar," while effective, will ultimately interfere with the install instructions I actually have.

When I was a much younger man a doctor told me his advice for anyone wanting to a live a long healthy life: "stay away from ladders, always hire someone else to do your electrical work." Very sensible and profound. Anyway, today I'll be balancing on a stepladder as I try to replace a ceiling fan.

Things take an interesting turn when the old guy's cellphone rings and she snatches it - it's a call from his wife. So the lady calls the old guy's wife back and gets his birthday and that's when I learn THE OLD GUY IS SEVEN YEARS YOUNGER THAN ME

So I'm watching a YouTube clip of a British gameshow where this old guy has written a number down on a piece of paper and this lady can ask 20 questions to figure out what the number is. So by question 3 or 4 she's managed to get the old guy to admit the number is his birthday.

I remember when I gave up the last manual I'd ever drive and it hurt. Those things are so much fun to drive. Parallel parking on a hill, not so much; but overall the fun came out ahead.

4/4 No image needed. 7. Click OK. RESULT: The Customize dialog closes. You should e able to use the Sum function with your chosen key combination. Also, this is probably an excellent example of the correct way to use the word "utilize."

3/4
(This is a procedure posted as a series of images because BlueSky won't let you attach documents. My apologies to screen readers everywhere. 3 of 4)

5. The Shortcut Keys list shows all the keys that can have or currently have functions assigned to them. Scroll to an empty key combination and click to highlight it.

RESULT: The Assign button will switch from grayed out to active.

6. Click Assign.

RESULT: The highlighted key combination in the Shortcut Keys list will update to show that Sum has been assigned to it. The Keys field will update to show that the key combination you selected was assigned to Sum.

2/4
(This is a procedure posted as a series of images because BlueSky won't let you attach documents. My apologies to screen readers everywhere. 2 of 4)

3. At the Keyboard Customization Settings view, type sum in the Functions field and wait for the Function list to filter.

NOTE: If you press the Enter key to force a refresh you will close the Customize dialog instead.

RESULT: The Function list filters to show only the functions with “sum” in it.

4. Click to highlight Sum in the Function list.

I typed up a very rudimentary procedure for remapping the sum function to a free key combination, and then realized BlueSky doesn't let you attach documents. So... screenshots it is. I'm going to lose whatever Alt text cred I ever had... 1/4

Unfortunately I'm not familiar with the MacOS version. On my PC if I highlight two cells and type Alt+= it places the sum in the empty cell to the right (if horizontal) or in the cell below (if a column).

Important late-night VFX question: At 9.55 in this episode, the TARDIS appears while the camera is zooming out. I think they must be zooming out on playback of the dissolve effect, which is why it's a bit soft. Does anyone know how they did it? www.bbc.co.uk/iplayer/episode/p00vhqq3
