However, this favorable economic model for AI companies creates corresponding unfavorable
economics for knowledge creators. The professional expertise that makes AI valuable was
created through millions of hours of human labor over decades. That labor was compensated
once, when the work was performed. The knowledge documented through that work now
generates value perpetually, with no ongoing compensation to creators.
Consider the economics from a professional's perspective. A radiologist who spent 2000-2020
examining scans, documenting findings, discussing cases in teaching conferences, and
publishing research created knowledge that AI medical imaging systems train on. They were
compensated for their work during those years through their employment. Now, an AI system
trained partially on their documented expertise reads scans, and healthcare systems pay AI
vendors for access. The radiologist receives no compensation for their contribution to the AI's
capability, even though their decades of documented diagnostic decisions are part of what
makes the AI valuable.
This asymmetry becomes stark when considering knowledge creators whose entire documented
contribution is now being monetized without compensation. A developer who contributed
hundreds of detailed answers to StackOverflow explaining programming concepts received no
direct compensation for that work (though they may have gained reputation or job
opportunities). Now, multiple AI coding assistants trained on StackOverflow generate billions in
revenue by providing instant answers based on patterns learned from those contributed
explanations. The original contributors receive nothing.

I don’t know how to attend conferences full of gushing talks about the tools that were designed to negate me. That feels so absurd to say. I don’t have any interest in trying to reverse-engineer use-cases for it, or improve the flaws to make it “better”, or help sell it by bending it to new uses.

When eugenics-obsessed billionaires try to sell me a new toy, I don’t ask how many keystrokes it will save me at work. It’s impossible for me to discuss the utility of a thing when I fundamentally disagree with the purpose of it.

I don’t care how well their ‘AI’ works – or if you found a fancy fun use-case. It fucks me up watching peers treat this tech from people who want to eradicate me as a future worth considering. I don’t want any of this.

I don’t need an agent, I want to maintain my own agency.

What do you mean NFTs are bad, don't you want disabled people to be able to use their phones to have medication delivered to their doorstep? Wow. Horrible of you, really.
