Tried Dungeon Automata. Slick, but I found the tutorial tedious; combat and exploration are fully automated and the only gameplay left is choosing how they operate, but there are no choices to make. Having to lose to the first boss to unlock the node that lets you beat them is egregious

Beat Greatest Cappie! Very cute game. I found the stages a bit too easy to clear as someone with a moderate amount of Magic Tower experience, but there's always gold medals, no-skill clears, the EX stages, etc.

Spent most of today playing The Greatest Cappie (ぐれいてすとキャッピー). It's a magic tower anthology game like Tactical Nexus, but with shorter, easier levels and less metaprogression (just passives to choose from). It also has lots of NPCs and funny little events, which is probably the WWA influence

Stonewalled by the final boss of BELIEVE it or not (2001). It's an interesting game, and the ultrawide fields contribute to the "thriller movie" feel, but I don't like the battle system; nearly every fight is won the moment you move to a range the enemy can't attack from

WWA is a venerable (1996!) web-based Tower of the Sorcerer-like engine by NAO, TotS's creator, and the way its game directory works is really neat. Rather than a list of links, it's a playable "game" with portals that transport you (i.e. your browser) to their corresponding games

Played Utuso no Koi (鬱夫の恋). Making the protagonist an RTP zombie in a First Seed Material world is a neat way of capturing the ugliness, smallness, and alienation he feels

"Frogger: Ancient Shadow" in 2006 had you plug in a controller and then it would download assets as you played. Sorta lost media but people frankenstein'd a full working version using assets from the console ports

Oh, here's another WarioWare clone: Made in Dare, by File Mario wa Akemasen of Broly Story Densetsu fame. It has five stages, the last of which is the VIPRPG equivalent of 9-Volt, featuring microgames based on everything from "Precious" to "Moshimo 1/256" to "Te to Risu"

Played classic '02 horror/escape game Nehan (涅槃). Fun way to kill an hour! The character sprites are less cutesy and RTP-like than other RPG Maker horror games I've played, which is a good fit for the adult cast and gore.
