It’s incredible to look back at a photo from nearly a decade ago (on an old iPod Touch no less) and think about where I am today. Returning to photography has brought me so much joy. I can’t begin to express what slowing down and capturing the world has done for me.

"We have built a plugin registry that is secure, but not controlled by a central authority. To do this we built it on top of AT Protocol (atproto) [...] We provide a default plugin store, but anybody else can create one that is compatible and can provide all the plugins in the network" Hell yeah 🌀🔥

And it just works™ on Nuxt! 💚 I am so happy to finally see that Nuxt/Vue/Vite DevTools are now fully orthogonal while united! So we no longer need to rebundle Vue/Vite-specific features into Nuxt DevTools, and users can get the full experience of each level's integrations.

The hacking tools the chatbot companies are developing stand to carry on this very stupid tradition. It *is* scary, but not because the chatbots are waking up. It's scary because the world's IT systems are indifferently created and poorly maintained and riddled with vulnerabilities: xkcd.com/2347/

At system76 we had a different vision for the Linux desktop - in particular at the DE level - how to design it, how to develop it. So we built it. That's it. No insults or drama. The year of the Linux desktop is coming. And it will be thanks to the efforts of the entire Linux desktop community.

the problem is that you really don’t know what the tradeoffs of the friction are until you remove it. github demonstrated that if you remove friction you can scale up — oss with tens of thousands of contributors, hundreds of maintainers, all more or less coordinating well.

I think every major company is looking at open weight AI models and realizing they can just bring them in house with an internal engineering team and cut out the frontier model companies to save money. They have more control and privacy. I really don't see frontier labs surviving this.
