From what I understand, the time, money, and equipment necessary to extract these resources would be substantial, and the environmental damage would be catastrophic. There's a reason it hasn't been done already. Like oil in Venezuela, the idea of untapped wealth in the world makes Trump crazy.

Remember when probable cause that a crime has been committed was needed to launch an investigation? Now they've normalized fishing expeditions that produce accidental minor infractions, then they throw the full weight of the government at them until they lose. It's such a waste of time and money.
