I know someone who works on one of these delivery platforms and said the platform was potentially going to turn on AI descriptions and photos by default and make it difficult to opt out of so in some cases the restaurants might not know how to *not* do this

Location, probably? At least as a first approximation, if you give me the bio of a randomly-selected person somewhere in the world and ask me to pick from my acquaintances who should be next in a chain, I'd most likely aim for someone in/with connections to that person's country/region

we tend to say it with stress patterns that make "grilled cheese" sound like a unit, and shorten it to just "grilled cheese", so a lot of people assume that's a syntactic unit without thinking about how the other parse corresponds better to the meaning!

discovered today that iOS emojis are so devoted to a Specific Hair Length as the signifier of gender neutrality that they use it for the gender neutral elf even though the man elf has long hair

iOS versions of the 'woman elf', 'elf', and 'man elf' emojis. The woman elf has long wavy hair, the man elf has long straight hair, and the ungendered elf has straight not-quite-chin-length hair.
