I came in late, in the middle of this discussion, & can't find a definition w/in the thread: Can you define preemption and its in/out application here, along with the implied long term consequences involved? I haven't seen this court give a ___ about consequences beyond "Yay!" immediate destruction.

As a paid contractor, when the Controller asked for honest feedback, my colleagues all sat on their hands. I stepped up and said what everyone actually thought, which the controller then confirmed: "Are there others who feel this way?" It didn't go well for me from that. No regrets.

A friend (Iowa HS classmates) tells me 111k attendees at that game. I missed the game, but I always check the math. I don't know what a ticket costs, but @ $50ea, (low end, per the Interwebs) that's $5.6m! I don't know NCAA's policy, but in MLB: home keeps stadium revenue, away gets a broadcast cut.

In my home state at that age I got a driver's permit. Farm kids could get a "school only" drivers license! I think of this often: I'm fortunate I didn't hurt anyone (I gave Karma opportunities) other than my dad via his wallet, and that was plenty inconsiderate.

It makes survival or "good enough" sense, especially for the law firm representing them, but not knee capping sense. We actually need more of that. Finance career here. A member of Tesla/SpaceX's board described it providing "life changing money" for her family. Settling won't get needed change.
