Other than some outdated textbooks, I always pass my unwanted books along, rather than dumping them in the trash or recycling. About ten years ago, I made an exception for Scott Adams.

I'm too lazy to look up how to take a screenshot on this tablet, so my word for 2026 is.... AGAIN?

I take a small amount of comfort from the fact that while I know who this is about, I don't know (and don't want to know) any of the specifics.

In a better world than this, Sara is a massive star. I feel fortunate that I caught a PMJ show with her in the cast.

That church is Trinity Episcopal in Lawrence, Kansas. Not as gothic, but you're in the ballpark.
Trinity Episcopal Church, Lawrence KS. Limestone construction with the nave on the left and the spire on the right.

"Rudy, that Red Beaked Reindeer" IIRC. I haven't been in the mood for holiday music in the last decade, so I may be misremembering.

My mom says I loved canned beets when I was little, but when I was twelve I decided I was done with them. They taste like dirt, and no one will change my mind on that.

The #1 movie when you were 10 is how your 2026 is going to go. So I'm either going to be eaten by a shark, or narrowly avoid being eaten by a shark. That tracks.
A late scene from 1975's Jaws, with Chief Brody on the mast of the nearly-sunken Orca. He's ready to put a bullet into the oxygen tank in the shark's mouth.

I was grown up and a married to a Jr High science teacher when I realized that the 9th grade Biology teacher my group of miscreant smart-kid friends drove insane couldn't have been more than ten years older than we were at the time I'm sorry, Joanne.

It's been a couple of weeks. Let's see if I'm ready to deal with the political hot takes that sneak into my feed no matter how hard I try to keep them out. I'm just tired, boss.

Finally, a One Sheet poster for 1969's Academy Award Winning (for best visual effects) Marooned, aka Space Travelers when it received the MST3K treatment. All of these people had prime roles in 70s disaster films in their futures. #MST3K
One sheet poster for "Marooned". On top, you've got small pictures of the astronauts - Richard Crenna, Gene Hackman, and James Franciscus. At the bottom, you've got Gregory Peck, David Janssen, and the much lower billed Lee Grant, Nancy Kovack, and Mariette Hartley. In the middle, the very large names of the five male stars and a rocket taking off from the pad.

Next up, that 1961 Bert I Gordon classic, The Magic Sword. Rathbone! Winwood! Lockwood! All willing to pick up a check from the notorious B. I. G. #MST3K
Lobby cards from 1961's "The Magic Sword." In the top card a red-velour-swathed Basil Rathbone gestures with both arms raised. Various castmembers in medieval palace garb stand around the palace behind him.

In the lower, our hero, the chainmail and tabard wearing Gary Lockwood appears to be ready to spring into action of some kind. Anne Helm stands slightly behind him in a pinkish dress, while more of those medieval types stand in the background. Some of them are coneheads. No, I don't remember why.

One of my low-key hobbies is collecting cheap One Sheets and Lobby Cards for movies I've seen on MST3K. (emphasis on the cheap) I picked some beauties up at an antique show this weekend. First: The Killer Shrews! I guess the dogs covered in carpets didn't photograph well. #MST3K
Two lobby cards for the cheapo 1959 horror movie "The Killer Shrews." In the top card, our tan-uniformed hero has someone slung over his shoulder. In the lower card, our hero and a few other characters kneel around a victim of those killer shrews. Both cards have "all that was left after.. THE KILLER SHREWS" on the right hand side, with a tentacle laying across a pink women's shoe below. The background is green.

There's a performance aspect to great teaching most people don't understand. You're putting on a one-man/woman show several times a day for an easily distracted audience that may not want to be there. That takes skill and passion, and you're not rewarded nearly well enough for it.

T-Rex: I replaced a deadbolt on my front door and it was actually really easy!

T-Rex: Then I replaced the kitchen faucet and THAT was a breeze too!T-Rex: I spent YEARS thinking these things were hard, but it turns out - nope! There's a whole UNIVERSE of easy-to-accomplish things, and I had NO IDEA.
T-Rex: THE END.Utahraptor: I tried to replace a bathroom faucet and it was a NIGHTMARE!
T-Rex: Oh no!

Utahraptor: Thing after thing went wrong! It was a nightmare from start to finish!!
T-Rex: So: there's ALSO a universe of hard-to-accomplish things, and it is impossible to know which is which until you start doing them.
T-Rex: Much to consider.T-Rex: Actually there wasn't THAT much to consider: the universe is a mystery and I'm out here exploring it!!
Off panel: Same, only I'M doing it while at the same time having a broken bathroom faucet back at home!
T-Rex: Neat!!

Centrist Dems would rather attract eight Republican voters and still lose, when they could move their policies about fifteen inches to the left and bring hundreds of thousands of disaffected voters to the polls and win. Billionaire money. It's a drug.
