sunset
a sunset view upward between two buildings, looking out through a roof segment at Waterloo, the lightly clouded sky bathed in mauve or lilac grading, bouncing purple-pink between the glass structures to either side, yellow lights within giving evening contrast

commuters pass in front on an elevated bridge which we are a floor or two below

most regrettably, it appears i am still having fun (presumably some kind of sin)
looking north from the end of the platforms at Canary Wharf DLR station, along elevated tracks that quite quickly lead between buildings to the next station only 50m away (West India Quay); the tracks have a zigzag to allow switching direction
a DLR train apprpaches to the left, and we're looking over the shoulder of one of my cameras mounted on a tripod which is videoing the sceneme posing for a seffie at West India Quay next to my dear friend, the compact Nikon, which is on a tripod at eye height
it's a Coolpix L30 which is adorably small and kinda crap but does at least have a short optical lens, unlike a phone

my face is uncovered but we're outdoors and nobody else is anywhere near (it was covered in Canary Wharf and on the train itself)view over the shoulder of the Nikon's perspective at West India Quay, recording trains taking the sharp curves of the elevated tracks; one is doing so now
the focus is on the camera and the view displayed on its screen, showing the train in frontview out of the front windshield of a DLR train (DLR are automated, no driver) with both my gopros stuck to the glass, getting a forward perspective view
we're somewhere near Stratford and a friend train approaches going in the opposite direction on our right

blue zoomies
a panel on the side of the train i was on, naming it the Victoria Pendleton CBE, "Britain's Fastest"
whether this refers to the train or to its namesake is unclear, although both are true in contexta join between two sections of the train, two cabs with their mandibles open for the connector
both are still branded as Javelin although this appears to no longer be the train's namethe parked pointy front - now back - of the blue class 395 Javelin, under the expanse of the St Pancras roof; its sibling waits patiently behind itview of the two class 395s loading up the next group, now busy with commuters as rush hour kicks in; from above the bright red bumpers at the end of the line
one points at us, one points left, as we stare down their vanishing-point

back to the big smoke
the front of our train curves around to the left, enough to be in view from my window; another train pokes its nose up towards our directionthe clock spire, glass arched roof, and stubbier tower of St Pancras station, viewed from downtrack around another sharp curve
in front of it, a boatyard mostly populated with narrowboats is supervised by a stubby victorian brick tower of some kindlooking out of one of the glass facades of St Pancras, its name reversed from the inside, along towards its spire

not 100% sure the video will be usable with this sun angle, but the ride is truly delightful
crossing high above a river which i believe is the Medway, at low tide with wide mudflats to either side covered in grounded boats; the sun above casts a reflected column in the waterthe great bridge at Dartford cuts through the sky, above an industrial estate
the bridge is long enough to have basically no visible arc in this segment, although the river itself is to our left (far enough to not really be in view from here)view across a river or marsh of unknown designation, below power lines in the nearground and wind turbines in the farground; black flecks of unknown waterfowl dot the surface, as the sun goes behind tge clouds for an evening effectfaded to blue in the extreme distance, the skyscrapers of London Docklands poke above the horizon; next to them in the midground, a wind turbine spins lazily; green hills roll in between us and the city

giant stone or concrete cubes to be used as breakwaters are stacked on the left, while on the right we can see over the low wall that encloses this yard (with piled up other rubble) and out to the open ocean (or at least, the Channel, which is wide enough to not see the other side), under an endless blue skylooking forward along the coast (and directly at the sun lol), ocean on the left behind a fence, and a huge rocky cliff looming up ahead of us that the train is going to pass straight underbeyond the great rocky cliff, and looking across a small bay at Folkestone, faded into the sun glare in the middle distancesheep graze a windbattered hill with a conspicuous lack of land to rise beyond it

a Eurostar zooms by, barely visible over an intervening hedgeview over Folkestone from Folkestone Central, elevated on a hill overlooking the town and then many more rolling chalk hills surrounding the town on the other side, a huge and dramatic bowl shapegopro charging on top of a power brick while the other sits next to it
only one charging at a time, because i only brought one cable oopswaiting in the parked train at Dover Priory, by an empty gopro cage on the window, as i wait for the same train to take us back to London

adoring the vibes of this one #odeToTheHalfBroken
cropped photo, to reduce spoilers, of a page from Ode to the Half Broken:

...the rain across the next six cars before reaching the locomotive engine itself. I am about to ask if I may come in, when the door opens.
I enter.
The interior is not too dissimilar to how 1-Betty had looked, with much of the spave given over to the train's mindsystem and support infrastructure, but there is also an old but serviceable sofa with a small, overflowing bookshelf and a hanging stained-glass lamp. A calico cat watches me warily as I enter.
The sofa is too small for me, and I fear breaking it or antagonizing the cat, so I sit on the locomotive floor.

playstation "news about one of your follows!" me _clicks Expand_ playstation _opens the game's _Steam_ page_ uhhhhh... what?
a photo of the tv, because screenshotting here is disabled, showing a web browser window open on the PS5 to display information about an upcoming game

except for some reason the page with the information is the game's Steam page, which is honestly probably better but surprising that Sony allows this (and fed it to me as a notification); obviously if i purchased on this page i would not be able to play the game on this device

the game in question is Boltgun 2, if you want to test this for yourself (otherwise, the content in the image about Slaanesh etc is irrelevant to the point here)

ooo interesting, i found a place _within_ London that also uses 165s, the Greenford Branch

note that the Greenford track has neither a third rail nor an overhead power cable

they're not special, but they're _mine_ the electronics are fine AFAIK it's just the mechanical parts that are broken unsure: is it worth risking _two_ unusable pairs by trying to salvage parts from their wired sibling, or do i leave that one reliable...?

a votre service
nous avons le train long...
en allant de l'avant...
personne n'a oublié
