Long story short after wearing them for so long I’m frankly not convinced wearing cameras on your face will ever be socially acceptable- even though the hands free nature and open ear design has a lot I like about it for specific situations.

The glasses. I got the blue-ish ones which I think are more noticeable. I was so self conscious I would normally remove them when going into a public restroom. I had people ask about them once a month or so which always led to me fumbling and showing that they’re off (the battery is awful)

As I've worn them I've come around on this - and it's why I'm phasing them out. We got them in the first place because of the accessibility advantages and our hope to make audio first AR experiences. We had ZERO luck with making inroads at Meta to get support in that category though.

one thing I cut out of this video is the fact of over the 2+ years of wearing them as my daily drivers is I had ZERO people notice them and not be mildly upset or at the very least dubious. I would show them they were switched off.

The good thing about AirPods is they don’t have cameras and the act of taking them out is a signal of giving attention. I’m not advocating for leaving them in all the time.
