Three veteran Black political operatives are joining the campaign as senior advisors to lead these efforts: Aisha J. McClendon, Delilah Agho-Otoghile, and Cliff Walker.

Three Black-owned firms will lead the paid communications program — Bryson Gillette, one of the country’s leading strategic communications firms, will lead on TV and digital; Foston International Communications of Richmond, TX will lead on radio; and Advantage Communications Group of Houston, TX will lead on print.

Talarico’s Black voter outreach plan is the largest of its kind in modern Texas history. Trump announces that the U.S. will allow 300,000 metric tons of ground beef to be imported and that it would be sold at 25 percent below market prices. All of this comes as Trump warns about the dangers of socialism and communism.

Today, I concluded a deal to substantially lower the price of ground beef for working American families. As everyone knows, under President Biden, beef prices soared at their fastest rate and the American beef herd fell to its smallest size in modern history. As we work to rebuild this herd and help our ranchers, for the next 90 days, the United States will allow up to 300,000 metric tons of product for ground beef to be imported with no out of quota tariff. We have a commitment that this beef will be sold at 25 percent below current market prices. Susan Collins announces she will vote against confirming Todd Blanche to become Attorney General. This comes after Cornyn and Tillis said they will vote to confirm him. Murkowski has not said how she would vote to confirm him. Same for Bill Cassidy.

I have carefully reviewed Todd Blanche’s qualifications to be Attorney General. This includes his record and responses to questions from Senators at the Department of Justice Appropriations hearing, his confirmation hearing, and in the weeks that followed.

While I believe Mr. Blanche is a capable lawyer, the Department of Justice has become increasingly political.

Mr. Blanche has taken several actions that have further eroded the Department’s independence, and that is the basis for my vote to oppose his confirmation:

Mr. Blanche approved an order to shield the President, his sons, and the family business from IRS audits, protections unavailable to other American taxpayers.

He approved the creation of a $1.8 billion anti-weaponization fund.

He promised an anti-abortion organization that he would seek to prohibit the mailing of abortion medication to women nationwide.

Under his leadership, the Department attempted to indict Senators Mark Kelly and Elissa Slotkin over their ill-advised, but constitutionally protected, videos encouraging resistance to unlawful orders.

More than 1,200 former Department of Justice employees have opposed his nomination, arguing that he has undermined the institution.

For these reasons, I will vote against this nomination.

An example of Representative Edwards’ unprofessional conduct was commenting on the two women’s appearance in the congressional office, telling them when they looked “pretty” or “breathtaking,” and even remarking on one staffer’s weight.7 Representative Edwards acknowledged he made comments such as “that’s a great looking dress, I like that color, I like that texture” and that with the culture on Capitol Hill “it’s almost an insult if you don’t make some comment about [one another’s clothing].”8 He further testified, “I wrote sexual harassment policy [in the corporate world]. I [] investigated sexual harassment many, many times. I lived a very cautious life. I know that commenting on clothing without associating that with any other body part or feature is common acceptable practice in the workplace.”9

Pursuant to House Rule XI, clause 3(q)(2)(D), the Chairman of the Committee on Ethics, Representative Michael Guest, and the Ranking Member, Representative Mark DeSaulnier, submitted a report to the House of Representatives in the Matter of Allegations Relating to Representative Chuck Edwards. The Report includes the findings of the Committee in this matter, along with the responsive views of Representative Edwards. At the completion of its investigation, the Committee concluded there was substantial reason to believe Representative Edwards violated House Rules related to sexual harassment and hostile workplaces. The Committee Rules provide for a process before the Committee can recommend that the House of Representatives sanction a Member. However, the Member can waive any part of that process. Although he disagrees with the Committee’s findings, Representative Edwards agreed to waive certain procedural steps, after reviewing a draft of the report several days prior, allowing the Committee to recommend a House-level sanction in relation to his conduct.

WASHINGTON – U.S. Senators John Cornyn (R-TX) and Thom Tillis (R-NC) released the following statement announcing the successful negotiation of a legally enforceable document clarifying the anti-weaponization fund and the IRS audit release included in the Settlement Agreement signed by Acting Attorney General Todd Blanche last May:

“From the outset, we were clear that we needed a written document addressing our concerns on the IRS audit agreement and the anti-weaponization fund that included constraining the scope of audit protection by limiting it to the parties of the Settlement Agreement and legally ending the anti-weaponization fund.”

“We are pleased that the Department of Justice has issued a formal order terminating the anti-weaponization fund. Additionally, the Department has acknowledged in a binding written order that the audit settlement is limited to the plaintiffs and the scope does not extend beyond the defendants in the lawsuit, the IRS and the Treasury, addressing concerns that multiple of our Republican colleagues share.”

The FIFA Forward Enterprise project was intended to provide a basis for further strengthening our FIFA Member Associations and our sport worldwide, especially in those countries where support is most needed. And more so, as we said from the outset, to do this only if a majority of the FIFA Member Associations were in support and always subject to a consultation process with them, the FIFA Council, the Confederations and wider stakeholders.

Having listened carefully to all the views, it has become clear that the project has created divisions of a nature that, regardless of the level of support, are no longer in the interest of the objective set out in the first place.

Our purpose has always been - and will always be - to unite and improve.

As a result, this proposal will not proceed.

Moving forward, my intent is to bring all interested parties back together in the coming days and weeks in the spirit of shared interest in our game, and with the objective to continue growing football everywhere, particularly in those countries that mostly need our support.
