This afternoon in Marble Hill, a New Yorker was shot by an ICE agent in a residential neighborhood. Early reports indicate agents surrounded him and a 5-year-old child in his car before firing multiple rounds. We believe the child was physically unharmed.

This is an unconscionable and incredibly serious situation. I have called the President; when we speak I will demand that he ends all ICE enforcement actions in our city. I will not stand by while ICE agents terrorize our communities.

Our thoughts are with the injured New Yorker and his family tonight. We are praying for his recovery.

Get ICE out of our neighborhoods. Get ICE out of our hospitals. Get ICE off our streets. Get ICE away from our children.

Abolish ICE.

Sorry this is just wrong and is the logic of Jim Crow. Do we disenfranchise people in abusive relationships? What about old people in a nursing home? People getting mental health treatment? People serving in the military?

The complaint is: “Working from home lowers productivity.” Good. Productivity should be lower. Productivity has grown 80% since 1980. Wages have grown 7%. Until wages catch productivity, productivity should go down. It seems organizations are taking the worker's share of their productivity.

I mean, I think the ongoing persecution of transgender people of the past ten years has been manufactured for political gain, not that the persecution isn’t happening and hasn’t been for most of history. And that mainstream media only seems to report from the side of the transphobes.

satin ribbons

After unexpectedly winning her first blue ribbon for a sewn cape in 1981, Carol St. Clair Johnson developed an enduring love for the New Mexico State Fair. The quilt Fair New Mexico-41 Fair Years incorporates more than six hundred of the ribbons she won at the fair every subsequent year except 2020 (when the fair was canceled because of the COVID-19 pandemic). Johnson earned ribbons for needlework, knitting, crochet, pies, cookies, cakes, canning, jewelry, flowers, vegetables, and potted plants. The title of the quilt is a reference to the state song, and the design places the state's Zia sun symbol at the center. The quilt earned Johnson yet another ribbon: Best in Category (miscellaneous quilt) at the 2023 New Mexico State Fair.
