Signed comic of the day: Marvel 75th Anniversary Celebration signed by @joequinones.bsky.social (on both the cover and his pin-up page), @ffrancavilla.bsky.social, and @kevinmaguire.bsky.social. (I can't believe I forgot to have Paolo Rivera sign his cover, since he was at DragonCon too.)
The cover of Marvel 75th Anniversary Celebration #1; the painted cover by Paolo Rivera shows a teenaged Peter Parker reading a copy of Marvel Comics #1, against a background of panels featuring numerous Marvel characters, including Spider-Man, who is emerging from his panel. The cover is autographed by interior artist Joe Quinones.A humorous "The Best Marvel Comics Never Made" page from Marvel 75th Anniversary Celebration #1; a mock cover for "X-Meh," a team comprised of several (arguably) less-popular mutant characters, including Colossus, Pixie, Marrow, Forge, Spiral, Stacy X, Ink, Adam X, Shatterstar, Callisto, and Sage. The page is autographed by artist Joe Quinones.A humorous "Best Marvel Comics Never Made" page from Marvel 75th Anniversary Celebration #1; a mock cover for "Litigious Tales Starring Groot, Attorney at Law," showing Groot in a courtroom, wearing a suit, standing beside She-Hulk (also wearing a suit). Groot declares "I am Groot!" From off-panel, the judge announces "Case dismissed!" The page is autographed by artist Francesco Francavilla.A humorous "Best Marvel Comics Never Made" page from Marvel 75th Anniversary Celebration #1; a mock cover for "The Portland Avengers," featuring a team made up of caricatures based on "liberal" stereotypes: Grahh-Nola (The Crunch That Walks Like a Man), The Hippie, Voodonut, The Protester, The Scarlet Cyclist, Madame Vegan, and...Brian Michael Bendis (with the caption pointing him out as "And This Guy"). The art by Kevin Maguire shows the team looking up at the camera in the format of Maguire's famous Justice League #1 cover. The page is autographed by Maguire.

As far as I know, Tapping Tommy has never reappeared again...which seems odd, since he seems like exactly the sort of absurd "loser" villain that writers can have fun with.

Using the phrase 'Trump *denied* Nobel Peace Prize once again' suggests he may have been entitled to it in the first place; to validate his mad desire. Best to just ignore the old man. Or use different phrasing at least.

The cover of Eightball #9; the image shows two men and a woman relaxing beside a swimming pool in a nudist resort, with various elements of the comic's trade dress (the issue number, price information, and "For Mature Readers" caption) strategically covering their private parts. Below the main cover image are three small boxes featuring the different stories inside the comic: "Like a Velvet Glove Cast in Iron" (showing a young woman smoking a pipe), "Zubrick" (showing a nervous-looking man in a red sweater standing beside an odd-looking man with big hair, wearing only underwear), and "Young Dan Pussy" (showing the hack comic artist Dan Pussey wearing a beret and holding a paint palette). I would appreciate seeing a talented filmmaker counteract this by making a respectful biopic of Renee Good, focusing on her as a human being and not just on her murder. But respect takes time and care, while Shapiro's hatchet job is also a rush job.

There's so much that's appalling about this script, but I was struck by the repeated emphasis on the protester's weight, when the actual Renee Good appeared to me to be an average-sized woman wearing bulky winter clothes. I guess it's easier for them to dehumanize her if she's "fat."
