This articulates something I often think about. Industrialised theft of underpaid creative work kills requisite passion. Swamping the zeitgeist with slop sucks, but my greater fear is it triggering a dark age of expression. We stand on the backs of giants and AI is slaughtering those giants.

I dont think the slop on VRC is thriving because of some enormous slop-fanbase of techno-philistines out there (If anything because they don't do VR). Nor is there such an endless thirst for (disappointing) atrocity tourism when the atrocity isn't novel anymore. So that leaves exploits.

VRChat has a community of shader developers and is a lot like shadertoy. They are having a shader festival early next year and doing submission / signups now. It's an expo of shaders made mostly by the vrchat community. The did two previously in 2019 and 2021. Check it out! shaderfes.com

I'm not a big fan of generative AI myself, but what's the worst about it, that regardless of my opinion on it, it makes it really difficult for small companies like us to survive. On one hand, we have people who want it banned completely. On other we have a chunk of people who use it a lot.
