I finally got around to reviewing VRChat on Steam.

A "Not Recommended" Steam review of VRChat, with 4,805 hours on record. It reads:

A lot of the negative reviews for VRChat are about the people. There are good and genuine people on here past the public instances & weird places, which have the bad people you find on every platform, not just VRChat.

I'm immunocompromized and have long Covid, making real-world outings exhausting and dangerous, so I found a home for myself in the better places here.

I spent 2 years creating 40+ worlds for this platform, visited by almost 2 million people. I made them by hand and with love.

Now, what would take me weeks to create, an AI can generate in mere minutes. The resulting product can be freely uploaded and monetized on VRChat with no restrictions. The worlds tab is starting to fill with AI-generated slop pandering to the players who don't know better.

VRChat's official response to the community begging for at least the ability to tag AI-generated worlds & avatars is to say nothing, hide or delete messages & comments about it and turn off replies/reposts on their social media posts.

This platform's management has shown how little they care for their team and the creatives that make their product worth playing by refusing to even address the AI-generated elephant in the room.

i get why AI is so depressing to me. because covid already shrunk my world to almost nothing, where almost all of my life revolves around socializing and watching videos on the internet (which is being ruined by AI) and creating creative works through coding (which is being ruined by AI), often using open source tools and libraries (which are being ruined by AI)

i already had so little and now even that is being rotted away before my eyes

Some nitpicks I have with my Steam Frame: >Playing VR games that use a traditional gamepad? You can't use the Frame controllers as a gamepad for those. >There's no official Discord app for ARM Linux on Flathub. >Occasionally the audio cuts out when remote streaming, forcing me to restart everything

So cool how my Steam Frame connects to my computer just fine for a wireless VRchat session, then suddenly never again SteamVR just crashes when I try to start a remote connection and the game boots in desktop Updating and reinstalling drivers didn't fix it, and SteamVR works fine with my PSVR2

Got my Steam Frame earlier today It's a pretty cool device, smaller than I expected too, but I've had a bit of trouble getting it comfortable on my face. It's overall comfy, just a couple spots where it's digging into my face a bit. Also I ran into a bug where VRC won't boot in VR mode from my PC.
