New paper 🍼📄 ManyBabies 3 is out (open access, registered report in Developmental Science). 30 labs, 33 languages, 839 infants set out to replicate a textbook finding: 7-month-olds learn abstract rules from speech (@garymarcus.bsky.social et al., 1999). We didn’t find it. 🧵

My older brother is an outstanding musician, so I spent much of my youth being taken to his concerts & complaining about their length and frequency to my parents. But when he played the Kennedy Center, I knew how cool it was and I was proud to go to DC to see him. The hell with this garbage.

The NYU department of psychology is also reinstating the GRE as a requirement for PHD admissions. I heard Yale and Harvard are as well. Now Penn too. If you are applying to psych PHD programs this year be sure to take the exam.

I had a revision recently where both reviewers used that box to say something other than "sorry I'm late." It was the same something and, in my opinion, would have been perfectly fine to put in the review, so I guess they just wanted to make me say it?
