Environment and climate

Most people want to live more sustainably. Going green is the right thing to do, but it doesn't always work out. What is stopping us from taking action toward a greener future? Play the board game "Empower: Play Your Part" and start a conversation about what holds us back and what motivates us to go greener in daily life.Navigating climate change: stumbling block or stepping stone?

Climate change is reshaping how we live, work and think about the future. Our instinct is often to protect what we know and seek stability amidst uncertainty. Yet research on human adaptation suggests a different perspective: what if disruption is precisely the condition that makes transformation and progress possible? Behavioural scientist Valentina Lozano Nasi and Professor of Energy Law Lorenzo Squintani explore how we can navigate the challenges of climate change and build a more transilient future. Whose job is it to solve climate change?

Government, industry, organisations and individuals all have a role to play in tackling climate change. However, current society-wide climate action is lagging, with uncertainty and debate about who should and can act, and who is motivated, likely to, or currently taking action. Environmental psychology researcher Xinran Wang will discuss how these different actors perceive their own and others' roles and how we can empower them to act towards a more sustainable future.
