Canada is going to supply Germany with a million tonnes of LNG annually starting in 2030. The feds say this will help Canada reduce dependence on the U.S. Climate experts say the deal raises questions about the long-term costs of expanding fossil fuel exports. thenarwhal.ca/canada-germa... #bcpoli

Canada-Germany deal shows LNG as a climate solution is ‘false’
Experts say the Canada-Germany LNG deal highlights the climate and economic risks tied to projects like Ksi Lisims LNG in B.C.

I wrote about how the Left should relate to a Lewis-led NDP alongside some brilliant organizers. We can't underestimate the forces we're up against. We must build power both inside and outside the party to advance a socialist agenda. bsky.app/profile/brea...

The NDP has a democratic socialist at its helm. What should Canada’s left do next? We asked five organizers—@wrongshon.bsky.social @emma-jackson.bsky.social, David Bush, Deena Newaz & Nathan Rao—to weigh in on how leftists should orient themselves to a Lewis-led NDP.

One of my biggest highlights of working on the @avilewis.ca campaign was hosting regular Solidarity Sessions to amplify the work of movements, do political education, and provide a small taste for what a truly movement-oriented @ndp.ca could look like. ICYMI, here they are 👇

On @leadnowca.bsky.social NDP leaders' debate, @desmondcole.bsky.social asks Ashton whether he supports granting PR to all migrants currently in Canada. Ashton says he supports a PATHWAY to permanent residency. This is *not* regularization. This is *not* the demand of the migrant justice movement.

coz often people invoke me and my book in online scraps about "where were you when..." and to chastize those newly organizing: I'm not interested in whataboutism & disparaging ppl. As an organizer, I appreciate ppl are joining, and I hope my work is of service. Stay in the struggle & keep building.

The NDP needs rebuilding and renewal, and Avi Lewis is its best hope at both. I'll be voting for him enthusiastically in March and I strongly encourage everyone to do the same. www.lukewsavage.com/p/why-im-sup...

ICYMI - My latest for The Breach. When I first started critiquing the framework of economic reconciliation, I spoke with many Indigenous leaders who agreed with me, but were too scared to speak out due to backlash.

Was honoured to host this conversation between Mostafa Henaway and @avilewis.ca yesterday on #InternationalMigrantsDay. Migrants aren't to blame for making your life unaffordable— billionaires are. When we turn against each other, they win and we all lose. www.youtube.com/watch?v=lzwD...

We need an NDP that's willing to take on the corporate oligarchs in this country and use public ownership to actually deliver for working people— lowering costs for groceries, telecoms, housing, banking, and pharma. @avilewis.ca has a plan for that 👇 lewisforleader.ca/ideas/public...

As an undergrad student, I once had to explain to the man who's about to be sworn in as our new Finance Minister that pipelines have to be paid for over time and therefore lock us into future production 🫠 He said he had "never thought about it that way"

"Of course, elections should not be our only — or even our primary — tool to build power. But given the fact that our power is limited and our opponents are so well-funded, we can’t afford to leave any tool on the table." @mauricewfp.bsky.social inthesetimes.com/article/ball...

Don’t Retreat, the Ballot Box Belongs to Working People
Elections aren't the only tool that the working class can use to build power. But as the Right continues to dismantle movement gains, we must use every tool available to us.
