Holy fuck, Shen. Those last four panels... Source: bsky.app/profile/shenanigansen.bsky…
Panel 1: Val stumbles backwards, flailing her arms, as Audrey looks at her with a motherly smile, a beam of light literally emanating from his face like it's a spotlight.

Panel 2: The light beam dissipates slightly as Val falls on her butt and crushes a few errant pizza boxes with a "CRK".

Panel 3: Audrey continues smiling sweetly and says "Val, that black mold thing ... was a lie, wasn't it."

Panel 4: Val begins panicking, flopping over from the pizza boxes onto her shins and stammering "I -- I was trying to buy time to CLEAN MY ROOM. B-but -- I couldn't even do THAT because --"Panel 5: The joy vanishes from Audrey's expression and is replaced with surprise as Val seemingly pauses speaking for a few seconds.

Panel 6: Tears well in Val's eyes as she can no longer meet Audrey's gaze or hold her composure. She says "Because I'm a fuck-up. And you shouldn't be friends with me."

Panel 7: Audrey squats down to touch her shoulder, saying "Val ..."

Panel 8: Still crying but now with a frustrated, tense expression, having an outburst, Val says "Oh, WHAT, Audrey???" and raises her hands up to gesture towards him.Panel 9: Val, now standing on her knees and slightly exceeding Audrey's squating height, gestures back at her very messy room littered with mail, takeout bags, and cans, and says "You gonna tell me I'm not a GROSS LOSER?? Are you gonna look me in the eyes, in the middle of this DUMPSTER of a room, and DENY REALITY???"

Panel 10: Audrey, looking bored now and looking away from Val, replies "Okay. You're a loser, Val."

Panel 11: Val has her eyes wide and mouth agape. The background is totally white. She is shocked that he actually said it.

Panel 12: Closeup of the part of Val's room with the now-crushed two pizza boxes. There is also a paper towel roll, a box from a delivery, an unopened envelope, two used paper towels, and a takeout bag there on the stained floor. Audrey continues to speak, saying "looking around here, there's no denying that you're LOSING."Panel 13: Closeup of Audrey's mouth from the side, as he says "But"

Panel 14: Audrey puts his face close to Val's with a wide-eyed, intense expression, which she seems to match out of surprise. "What GAME are you playing, exactly?" he says, "On what DIFFICULTY?"

Panel 15: Audrey's expression turns back to his usual one of compassion as he and Val look at each other and he says "Nobody is good at EVERYTHING, VAL. And we're all made to play games in life that aren't DESIGNED for us."

Panel 16: Audrey puts his arms between his knees, still in squatted position, and puts his palms together. The sunlight from the window illuminates him in a warm glow and he winks, his one open eye glistening. "But I think we can find a way to beat this one. In co-op mode," he says "What do you say, girlie?"

you know, I've not encountered a better phishing trap email than this. absolutely chefs kiss SPECTACULAR! wait, why is everyone quitting? #Knicks #CyberSecurity #Phishing
The Knicks assistants were told they
would receive championship rings
eventually, but many longtime employees
at Madison Square Garden, including
some who work in the Knicks’ business
operations, will not receive rings at all,
team sources told The Athletic. Typically,
most employees for NBA teams receive
rings, even if they are not as fancy and
expensive as the ones the players receive.
Those MSG employees got their hopes up
at the end of September when the Knicks
sent an email to a long list of employees,
which gave recipients a first glimpse at
their would-be championship rings. Atop
the email, a copy of which The Athletic has
obtained, was a graphic of two differently
styled rings.

“Congratulations, your Employee
Championship Ring is here,” the email
read.
“(Employee name), this one is on the
house. MSG is issuing a complimentary
employee championship ring. The same
jeweler, the same craftsmanship,
personalized with your name. No cost to
you.

“There are two designs to choose from:
Championship Gold and Garden Classic.
Reserve the one you want below.”

But the email was a fake-out, a phishing
test Madison Square Garden sent to see if
those employees would click, multiple
team sources said.

Those who did click the link at the bottom
of the message did not get to choose any
jewelry; instead, they were forced to
attend a mandatory cybersecurity class to
help satisfy some of Dolan’s growing
cybersecurity concerns, those team
sources said.

Rather than cover the cost of gender affirming care for trans youth under medicaid, Colorado is voluntarily enacting the republican "taper and detransition" policy for youth on medicaid and dropping coverage. WTF.
Ironically, the first known violation of that law is now coming from the state itself. On September 18th, the Colorado Department of Health Care Policy and Financing (HCPF) informed providers that “certain Physician-Administered Drug (PAD) services for the purposes of gender-affirming care will no longer be covered benefits for members under 18 years of age.” Two weeks later, HCPF released its full policy surrounding its updated coverage, and it somehow manages to be worse than the policies enacted by Arizona and Virginia. As Transitics reported last week, the federal rule allows for a 6-month ‘tapering’ period for youth currently receiving gender-affirming care where federal funds can still be used. And although HCPF does mention that stipulation in its policy, it also introduced a strange exception:

“Effective October 13, 2026, claims payment for GnRH/LHRH agents prescribed for gender-affirming care therapy for members under the age of 18 will not be allowed… Prior authorization for testosterone, estrogen, progesterone or medroxyprogesterone therapy for members under the age of 18,” the policy reads, “who are receiving and stabilized on therapy for gender-affirming care prior to October 13, 2026, may receive approval to allow for tapering and discontinuation of therapy.”

The exclusion of puberty blockers in the tapering policy isn’t accidental. The state’s prior authorization guidance that was updated the same day mirrors the policy and once again does not allow for a tapering period for trans kids receiving puberty blockers. And like Arizona and Virginia, Colorado has provided no indication that it has notified patients and their families. In doing so, Colorado is going far beyond what even the Trump administration intended—immediately cutting many trans kids’ care and leaving them scrambling for options.

A nighttime scene, with silhouetted trees in the lower corners of the photos, and bright green auroras across the horizon, with some pink and red pillars above, almost blocking the Milky Way, visible vertically across the sky.Same idea as the previous photo, but now the green in the lower part of the sky is also reflected by a small pond. More bright green auroras with red and pink pillars above, the Milky Way sticking up out of the middle, and a bit of green reflected in a small pond with silhouetted trees.

The crime in #Chicago is out of control blockclubchicago.org/2026/09/14/nei…
blockclubchicago.org
UKRAINIAN VILLAGE — It’s an all too common experience in Chicago: a bus is delayed or missed, leaving riders to wait. And wait. To add insult to injury, many bus stops across the city do not include benches or shelters, meaning the only option for riders is to stand. Now, some Ukrainian Village neighbors will be getting a reprieve from that experience. Last week, two homemade benches of slightly different designs — painted the colors of the Ukrainian flag — were placed at bus stops on Damen Avenue near Thomas Street and on Division Street between Oakley and Western avenues. The benches are the work of the volunteer-run Northwest Neighborhood Alliance, a group that formed last year to advocate for transit and housing issues in the Logan Square, West Town and Humboldt Park community areas. Built by members Sam Kovnar and Eddie Lehwald, the benches are the first of what the group hopes will be a larger network of DIY bus benches across the city — if the city or anyone else doesn’t remove them. Their goal is to make people’s lives a little bit easier and bring attention to the lack of bus benches and other basic public amenities in Chicago, Kovnar said. “It’s very easy for someone like me to use the bus system when there’s really no accommodations,” Kovnar said last week. “But for someone who is older, who’s disabled, who has kids … you have to make the bus system usable.” “You should have your basic human needs met while you’re waiting for the bus,” Lehwald added. He began building similar structures a few years ago when he lived in Milwaukee, as part of an initiative organized with that city’s chapter of Strong Towns, a group that, according to its website, advocates for cities “to be safe, livable and inviting.” Lehwald, who lives in Logan Square, also starting thinking about installing DIY bus benches a few years ago and built one of the two now out in Ukrainian Village. But the project got delayed until Kovnar took the reins recently, Lehwald said. “It’s awesome to see something happening and finally see this bench move from my backyard out into the world,” Lehwald said. Organizers said the initiative is a light lift for something with such an immediate payoff. Kovnar estimated his bench only cost $30-40 to construct. Northwest Neighborhood Alliance members then held a painting event last weekend to finish the benches, and the group plans to keep an eye on them in case there are any maintenance issues. “There’s a lot of things we can’t help with. We can’t go out and build a bus shelter from scratch. This is something that we can just do. You spend a few hours building a bench, and now you have a bench,” Kovnar said. The structures are not bolted down or chained to anything, nor are they officially sanctioned or permitted. The Chicago Department of Transportation did not respond to a request for comment about the benches. Ald. Daniel La Spata (1st), however, whose ward includes the new benches, signaled his support of the project. “We’ve gotten emails about these! All enthusiastic and happy!” the alderperson said in a text message, while confirming his ward office would not remove them. Lehwald said he’s slightly concerned a city department or another government agency might take the benches. But he hopes officials instead see the initiative as a chance to engage with neighbors about how the city can work better for them. “I hope the city doesn’t waste the opportunity to engage with people in a positive way, that can lead to low-cost, high-return kinds of investments like this,” Lehwald said. They’d also like to see a formalized system created where neighbors can easily request benches for bus stops that need them. The homemade benches could be “something that leads to it being easier for people to directly engage with their local government, and get a quick response and fix a problem quickly and cheaply,” Lehwald said. Kovnar said people are already reaching out to get involved or contribute materials to the bench project, following several well-received posts about them on social media. For now, he plans to wait at least a month before adding any more to see how the benches are received. “I’m just as excited as they are to get out there and put dozens and dozens of benches out,” Kovnar said. Still, “I want to be cautious and make sure that if we do it, we’re not going see a bunch of benches go out and then disappear.” ______________________________________________________________________ ## **Support Local News!** **Subscribe to Block Club Chicago, **an independent, 501(c)(3), journalist-run newsroom.
