I one-shotted an undead necromancer in last night's session thanks to a crit. My character's reaction was "Ooops." She has no idea what she is doing, just tries out moves from her favourite books, and somehow has the highest 💀count. I have also forced my party to adopt a baby fire snake...

New piece! I struggled with this one a lot back when I started it a year or two ago, but it finally came together nice and easy when I went back and took a second look at it. 😊

Fully agree. I have a good friend who chose academia because she thought there is more integrity in it than private practice. She was at a major US university doing cancer research. the result was basically dictated as was the preferred presentation. Never saw someone leave academia faster.

I saw a post talking about how Terry Pratchett only wrote 400 words a day, how that goal helped him write literally dozens of books before he died. So l reduced my own daily word goal. I went down from 1,000 to 200. With that
800-word wall taken down, I've been writing more. "I won't get on tumblr/watch TV/draw/read until I hit my word goal" used to be something l said as self-restraint. And when I inevitably couldn't cough up four pages in one sitting. I felt like garbage, and the pleasurable hobbies I had planned on felt like I was cheating myself when I just gave up. Now it's something I say because I just have to finish this scene, just have to round out this conversation, can't stop now, because I'm enjoying myself, I'm having an amazing time writing. Something that hasn't been true of my original works since middle school.
And sometimes I think, "Well, two hundred is technically less than four hundred." And I have to stop myself,

I stopped my SSRI/DRI a few weeks back (in agreement with my doc). Now, I've returned to my saddest WIP. I'm very against the "you need to be in pain for art" myth. Very, very against it. But I'd be lying if I said writing about the end of a soul is not a lot easier when your own is drowning.

I asked for novella recommendations a few weeks ago and @annettej.bsky.social recommended Your Blood and Bones. I just finished it and I raise her "one of the best books read this year" to "one of the best books I've ever read". I can't even articulate my thoughts right now. My brain is mush.
