I think we should institute a floating tax point based on however much it will cost to fill all societal needs

Okay now I want to make a billboard
Screenshot from City Cast Portland IG post. Green background with black over white text. At the top of says "do you think the county's initiative for universal preschool education, Preschool for All, has been a success?" Below that is a black line dividing the slide.under "Yes" on the left is a labeled photo of Shannon Singleton. On the right under "No" are Julia Brim-Edwards and Dr. Sharon Meieran.

there are no worthwhile qualities of fraternities, full stop. when they're not busy raping women and defending their rapist members they abuse and kill new members for fun. colleges have proven they cannot be made safe or reformed. the only reasonable policy at this point is banning all of them.

I think the purchase into AI would be greater if the main examples that you encounter in real life wasn't "we took this thing that works, and made it so it doesn't work".

Mr. Hoan is not qualified to assert that a tax on gross net profits will be passed on to consumers. Pricing decisions made by large corporations are based upon a markup on direct costs and overhead costs (spread broadly), prior to net income taxes.

Here’s the full quote I provided on Friday, not Saturday, which is falsely reported in the article for some reason. Not sure why they omitted to print the second part.
"I'm not surprised the Metro Chamber is targeting me, because my office is uniquely equipped to defend popular programs like Preschool for All from their attacks and has been very successful at it. I was wondering if this PAC would ever come into campaign finance compliance or properly register the websites they post on their billboards"

This paper, finding that data centers drive up local governments' borrowing costs, should inform all discussions about tax breaks for data centers. Reason: data centers strain public infrastructure while offering little improvement to fiscal capacity, employment or business formation.

It takes you 20 paragraphs to get to the part of the article where they admit that Mamdani isn't paying the influencers and the reason they are posting videos of the stuff Mamdani is doing is because people are interested in watching it.
The mayor’s office says that it does not pay the influencers. Still, their proximity and access to a figure as popular as Mr. Mamdani can help increase their own social media following and, by extension, potentially put them in a position to attract paid content sponsorships from commercial brands. Some influencers said that when they feature Mr. Mamdani, the videos get more likes and viewers watch longer.

Tomorrow the Multnomah County Commission will vote on whether to delay a scheduled 0.8% Preschool for All tax increase by two years (on income > $125K or $200K joint). Commissioner Singleton plans to introduce an amendment cosponsored by Comm. Moyer that would only delay the tax by one year.

What some of my colleagues fail to understand about the Billionaire Bailout framing is that when you upgrade a stadium it increases the value of the team that plays there bc revenues increase. Even though we own it we are still increasing the value of the team, which is a pub -> pvt subsidy.

It is beyond absurd to suggest that hiring a former Blazers executive to bargain for the County is not a conflict of interest. He's currently a consultant who markets his "strategic advisory services to owners and executives in sports."
However, on Monday, she doubled down on her decision in response to questions from The Oregonian/OregonLive, saying that she had hired “an experienced, skilled professional to represent the interests of Multnomah County.”

“Chris is local to our community, knows this industry inside and out, is well respected by his peers, and will bring his deep expertise to getting the best deal possible for Multnomah County based on the terms the Board of Commissioners passed last week,” she said.

Vega Pederson also dismissed suggestions that Oxley would be divided in his loyalties by helping the county.

“He is an unpaid volunteer board member of Sport Oregon. His role does not create a legal conflict of interest,” she said, though Vega Pederson added that “out of an abundance of caution,” the county’s chief operating officer will require Oxley to complete additional disclosure forms.
