Back from an excellent 16th International Conference on Developmental Coordination Disorder in Hong Kong! I presented work conducted with Amy De Roubaix on the DCD awareness gap (link.springer.com/article/10.1...) and early results from my inhibition while walking study - more on that coming soon!

Today for #NeurodiversityCelebrationWeek we are focusing on when ADHD and DCD (Developmental Coordination Disorder / dyspraxia) co-occur. It is estimated that these neurodivergences occur together in about half of all cases. 🧵1/3.
Two white head silhouettes face each other on a teal background. Inside the left head is a tangled red string-like mass; inside the right head is a tangled blue string-like mass. with the caption ADHD and DCD / dyspraxia are thought to occur together in about half of all cases. The image also shows the Oxford Brookes University and Centre for Psychological Research logo and Neurodiversity celebration week 2026 at the top.

DCD and ADHD are two neurodevelopmental conditions which seem to have many similarities, yet still many differences. In order to categorize and summarize which similarities and differences can be found, we've put together a scoping review of 68 articles now out in @jmldjournal.bsky.social

1 in 10 people have DCD, yet some medical professionals do not know what it is. In our new review, Amy De Roubaix and I look at the past, present, and future of DCD awareness. Especially to see how we can best promote awareness in the future. Check it out here: link.springer.com/article/10.1...
