Class-wide peer tutoring (CWPT) led to greater motor skill learning than a teacher-centered (TC) approach for students w/out Down syndrome (DS), & DS students in the CWPT group outperformed the TC group at posttest and retention 🏃‍♀️

New accepted paper by Debelle et al. 🇬🇧 testing perturbation-based training for children with Developmental Coordination Disorder. Results: ✅ Kids with DCD fell less after one session ✅ Balance recovery after backwards-falling improved 💡 Proof-of-concept that well-designed PBT may reduce fall rates.

Results: ✅ High reliability (ICC 0.95–0.97) ✅ Combined throw+catch score cuts floor effects 💡 Test works best for grades 3-4; with combined score better for younger kids.

New accepted paper by Kaokhieo et al. 🇹🇭 examining retained primitive reflexes and bilateral coordination in Thai children with DCD. Results: ✅ mild–moderate ATNR/STNR retention ✅ Retained reflexes (ATNR/STNR/TRL) predicted poorer BOT-2 coordination 💡 Findings supports early reflex screening.

New accepted paper by Jennifer Emily Souza and colleagues, comparing cooperative dyadic practice vs individual practice. They found no learning advantage of dyadic practice over individual practice, but higher perceived competence and pressure, and reduced efficiency in dual-task conditions 🎯

Authors translated the Pictorial Scale of Perceived Water Competence into 🇵🇹 & validated with 120 children Results: ✅ high skill familiarity ✅ strong sequencing ⚠️ lower scores for inexperienced kids. PSPWC is a well-adapted tool.

New accepted paper by Adrián Belenguer-Troya et al on a classroom-based physical activity (PA) intervention. PA increased and perceived physical literacy maintained in the intervention group (vs. ⬇️ in controls); motor competence improved in both – supporting the benefits of classroom-based PA.

New study by Sandra Santos from the University of Porto 🇵🇹, with A. Santos, M. Duncan, A. Andaki, S. Vale, and J. Mota, found preschoolers at risk based on waist-to-height ratio were more likely to show poor motor competence, especially in aiming 🎯, catching 🎾🤲, and balance ⚖️ tasks.

New accepted paper by Dr Hulteen et al. 🇺🇸 who aimed to test construct & concurrent validity, & internal consistency of the Perceived Movement Skill Competence scale in 254 children. Findings showed good construct validity, ICC=0.66–0.78, & α=0.51–0.83. Both versions are reliable for use in children

New accepted paper by Dr Nobre & colleagues presenting normative reference curves for fundamental motor skills (TGMD-3) in Brazilian children aged 3-10.9 years. Findings showed Brazilian children had lower motor proficiency cut-off points than U.S. norms, with clear differences by age and sex.
