It's telling that men would rather try to invent tech to replace humans' role in caregiving than step up as equal partners in parenting. Telling, that is, in that it shows how financial capitalism and patriarchy work together to dissuade men from doing "unprofitable" labor, like the work of care.

If you have ever read a book to a baby, you will realize it's not a linear experience. The baby wants to turn pages backward, wants to ask questions (if they're old enough), wants to examine the pages and get really excited if they can say "bear!" even if the word "bear!" is not on the page.

Death of a handyman: ICE cited “convictions for driving with expired vehicle registration” and an unspecified judgment against him in favor of the Maryland comptroller. The 47-year-old Curo-Churata "had volunteered to leave the country on his own, but a judge denied the request."

one of the ways the media shows which side they prefer, is which politicians they quote uncharitably out-of-context and which they clean up for even when what they actually say and do is offensive (the Biden story ran on the front page less than a week before the 24 election)

Every single newspaper that reported that Jane Doe “changed her story” should be rushing to publish retractions right now. This case should be a lesson in taking a DA’s victim-blaming statements at face value. Victims do not report to the police because they thought nothing happened to them.

I wrote a thread earlier today (before even reading this story, actually) about how commonly the “inconsistencies” in a victim’s story are actually procedural distortions made by people in positions of power who are invested in disbelieving her:

Read this thread & also the NYT story (which will, be warned, make you physically sick and very distressed indeed, so keep that in mind). The campus police DID NOT TELL THE PROSECUTOR all that Jane Doe said. The campus police *omitted* her most important statements about what those men did to her.

The MCR takeover of women's clothing continues! Instead of the Black Parade, Loft has gone for a Three Cheers for Sweet Revenge look. A bold decision from a brand normally associated with bland!
One of these outfits is not like the other! At the top left is a model wearing a black faux leather dress over a red long sleeve shirt. She's also wearing a red tie. The three other images are not as interesting.
