Switched our team at Ura Design to a 4 day work week 2 months ago and love it. It feels like productivity is still at least the same and we get to enjoy fridays with our loved ones and take care of our own lives while work can wait one more business day.

OpenAI has just booted Sam Altman as CEO and removed him from the Board of Directors and they are not being shy about their reasons. openai.com/blog/openai-...

Mr. Altman’s departure follows a deliberative review process by the board, which concluded that he was not consistently candid in his communications with the board, hindering its ability to exercise its responsibilities. The board no longer has confidence in his ability to continue leading OpenAI.

My favourite Twitter moment was when I got connected to an actor from Better Call Saul (the prequel to Breaking Bad). He played Kai, one of the construction workers who built Fring's underground lab. We still follow each other.

The way to build a resilient forum for public conversation that lasts for the long-term is to build it on an open protocol, like the web itself. Services like websites can be built on top, but each can be run differently, and if users can easily move it keeps services accountable to users.

I must say that I love how alt images descriptions are much more used here on Bluesky than on Twitter. On Twitter, I saw more alt tags being used for AI image prompts than actual accessible image descriptions.

Mastodon falls down on this - they have a public feed but it’s a mess because they don’t believe in algorithms. They show you random users but you can’t follow them quickly. These seem like minor UX differences but when they make up the key mechanic of a site, they end up mattering a LOT.

Even if it seems unrealistic for you, weak passwords can be hacked quickly. Passwords with only numbers may be compromised within a week, while those with six or fewer characters are virtually non-existent. A password manager and 2FA helps. Source: hivesystems.io

I don't remember the last time I was on a new network which I enjoyed exploring. Having joined Twitter in 2010 and Facebook in 2008, it definitely was a long time ago. Joined Mastodon over 5 years ago but Mastodon's Product Design Strategy is ironically probably as centralized as Twitter's.
