19 years ago today, Nine Inch Nails released "Beside You in Time," their third concert film release, directed and art directed by me. Showcasing the 2005-2006 "Live: With Teeth" tours, it was one of the first concert films released on then-new high definition Blu-ray and HD DVD (RIP) formats. 🧵

Happy 25th anniversary to NIN’s “Things Falling Apart,” released on this day in 2000; significant for me as it was the first album I designed and created artwork for, at the tender age of 20, working a dream job for my favorite band. I wrote about it at www.patreon.com/posts/144077...

Trent Reznor / NIN “With Teeth” album portrait, 2005. Photography, digital glitching, scientific imagery, mixed media. Certainly one of my most widely recognized works. Some thoughts on looking back at it 20 years later (third image). Larger uncropped version: rob-sheridan.com/nine-inch-na...
Trent Reznor - Nine Inch Nails "With Teeth" album portrait by Rob Sheridan (2005). Photography, digital glitching, scientific imagery, mixed media. Certainly one of my most widely recognized works. The first photo of TR in a Nine Inch Nails album since their 1989 debut was meant to be unexpected and confrontational, drawing influence from Peter Gabriel’s “Melt” album cover. I won’t speak to the portrait’s meaning, as it is as personal to the listener as it is to the artist, an open conversation that evolves depending on one’s interpretation of the album.

For me personally, looking back on it 20 years later as a very different person and artist, it strikes me as confident and empowering in a way that I didn’t fully appreciate at the time. While I felt more at the time that it was about coming apart and struggling to hold on to yourself, I see it now more as a statement of wholeness: The damaged parts of ourselves, the incomplete parts, our flaws and failures and regrets, they all make us who we are, for better and worse, and there’s nothing more confident than a willingness to open up and acknowledge your whole raw fucked-up self. But that’s the beauty of art: It changes with you.Interior CD package of Nine Inch Nails "With Teeth," 2005. my mom, @evilbatwitch.bsky.social, bought me a @robsheridan.bsky.social print for my 40th that was just delivered 🤩🤩🤩😍😍😍 time to rearrange my office wall to get this on it 👏🏻
A photo of a photo lol. In my hand is a picture frame the size of a vinyl album cover with a print of one of Rob Sheridan's photos that didn't end up making the cut to be a How To Destroy Angels album cover. A shadow figure stands in the center of what looks like water under a cloudy sky, but the image is distorted to look like a damaged VHS tape; the clouds are vibrant rainbow colors that appear more like water colors and reflect off the water, giving the effect that the water is colored similarly. The bottom of the photo is black, which is blended in as if the damaged tape was worse. The bottom left is the print number 6/30 and Rob's signature.

In the background are my tan kitchen cabinets, and if you look close enough in the reflection you can kind of make out the Home Assistant logo that's on my shirt.

Steph & I had a blast closing out @pearljam.com's Dark Matter tour in PGH & celebrating an inspiring year of artistic collaboration. So grateful to the band for trusting me to bring something new to their shows, and to the crew, management, & especially the PJ fans for welcoming me into your world 🙏
It is me with my wife Steph and some guy named Eddie Vedder, celebrating after the last show of Pearl Jam's tour in Pittsburgh, 18 May 2025. Despite my longstanding policy that there is no smiling in rock n roll, Pearl Jam is an extremely "there is some smiling in rock n roll" type of band, so this sort of half smirk is my compromise.Photo of Pearl Jam performing in Pittsburgh on 18 May 2025, showing visuals I designed for the song "Dark Matter."Pearl Jam live in Pittsburgh, 18 May 2025. This is a moment I wanted to make sure I captured before the tour ended. There is a big impact moment in the visuals I created for the song "Setting Sun," when the sun bursts open. During rehearsals, Ed mentioned how much he loves that moment, and from then on I would notice that every single night, when he finished his vocal part at this moment in the song, he would turn around to watch it happen on the screen, looking up in awe, no less excited about it 20 times in than he was the first. It fills me with pride to know I created something that inspires the band so much, so this photo means a lot to me.It is Eddie Vedder and Jeff Ament having a very "dudes rock" moment on stage as they spray champagne bottles all over themselves and the audience in a celebratory moment at the very end of the last show of the Pearl Jam tour in Pittsburgh, 18 May 2025.
