I
Nos encontramos en el vértice de una transformación de época en la que la Inteligencia
Artificial en general, y la Inteligencia Artificial Generativa en particular, están suponiendo
ya un extraordinario desafío para el conjunto de la actividad humana, pero muy
especialmente para el trabajo y, en el caso particular que nos ocupa, para la actividad
artística.
Prometeo le entregó el fuego a la humanidad como primer gesto de democratización
de un bien inalcanzable y como mito de nuestra capacidad para gobernarlo a través de
las capacidades humanas. La llegada del fuego del reino de los dioses es también el
fin del paraíso eterno y el nacimiento de la autonomía de la humanidad. El dominio del
fuego usurpado a los dioses funda tanto la posibilidad de emancipación como la de la
explotación del trabajo. Es la historia de la capacidad para manipular una herramienta
amenazante y convertirla en técnica e innovación.
En 1818, Mary Shelley, publicó “Frankenstein, El Moderno Prometeo”, considerada la
primera novela de ciencia ficción de la historia, y enfrentó el reverso del mito. La Criatura
que crea Víctor Frankenstein es el producto de una sociedad incapaz de gobernar las
nuevas formas del fuego mítico. La electricidad, base de la modernidad, produce un ser
sin derechos, una amalgama de cuerpos que la sociedad identifica como monstruoso
pero que tiene la capacidad de aprender y la curiosidad para ser humano. Humanizar
es aprender, es crear y es convertirse con ello en sujeto de derechos.

Anthropic y OpenAI van a pérdida. Los inversores están exigiendo resultados que no aparecen y estas empresas están dispuestas a todo para mantener las expectativas. En esa desesperación surge la nueva narrativa alarmista de la semana para que la fantasía de Skynet domine la agenda mediática 👇

Mucha gente prefiere temerle a Skynet y toda la ciencia ficción de los 80s con la promesa de la AGI que nunca llega (ni llegará). Mientras nos distraen con todo eso, se está dando un desplazamiento territorial, geopolítico, económico, cultural y social a gran escala frente a nuestras narices.

¿Recuerdan la famosa Carta Abierta publicada el 28 de marzo de 2023 para frenar el desarrollo de IA por 6 meses?
Cada tanto aparece una nueva carta abierta y una nueva narrativa alarmista para seguir desviando el foco de atención de lo verdaderamente importante. Cada tanto aparece un empleado de una empresa de IA «renunciando» para dar aviso del apocalipsis por venir. Ya vimos a muchos «capos» de empresas de IA «renunciar» diciendo que se venía la AGI. Ya vimos muchas cartas firmadas pidiendo «pausar» y/o «frenar» la supuesta avanzada de la AGI.
📌 Todo es marketing para seguir buscando inversiones de quienes realmente creen que hay una AGI por venir. Anthropic y OpenAI van a pérdida. Los inversores están exigiendo resultados que no aparecen y estas empresas están dispuestas a todo para seguir manteniendo las expectativas.
El «capo» de esta semana es un chivo expiatorio que no tenía presencia en redes hasta ayer; abrió twitter para soltar el hilo por el que están todos tan alarmados y huele justamente a movida de venta de Anthropic para posicionar sus modelos frontiers por encima de los open models.
Y por cierto, decir que Anthropic es la empresa «con rostro humano» y con algo de ética es no tener real dimensión de lo que es esa empresa. Anthropic no es mejor que Palantir; son socios comerciales desde hace mucho tiempo. Palantir ha usado y sigue usando los sistemas de Anthropic (como Claude) en sus operaciones de guerra (¿recuerdan la escuela bombardeada en Minab, Irán?) La única diferencia es la estrategia de marketing desde donde Amodei y su hermana intentan convencer al mundo que son Hansel y Gretel para vender sus productos como si fueran los más «éticos» del mercado. Spoiler: no lo son.

So, I got burnt out mildly of the other project I was drawing, so have this Griffon Lua I've sketched between yesterday and today. I saw a griffon character which looked a lot like her, and I had to do it myself with how pretty she was.
