IDK, I haven't watched a lot, and even less had really impressed me. The Pitt was great. A really tight, sincere an engaging show, that feels very contemporary. Silo s02 was nice, but not superb, as was the first one. Rather drawn-out. Now watching The American Revolution, so far it's very good.

Everyone needs to listen to Gustav Holst's "The Planets", not for hoity-toity nerd reasons, but because every epic sci-fi movie OST for the past century has been directly lifting shit from this one specific collection of pieces, and you deserve to hear your favourite motif in its native environment.

You know, I didn't particularly care for this art back in circa nineteen hundred and ninety three, but today I am absolutely in love with Ricardo Delgado’s gothic vision for #StarTrek Deep Space Nine. /1

I'm thinking of buying the new Medieval Horse Knight Castle as New Years's present for my 8yo daughter, but I'm starting to think that she is much less excited for it than me 😅

How I wished for Knight's Castle when I was a kid! I saw it in a catalog that came with my one and only and very cherished Basics box. Sadly it was almost impossible for our family to get it so it remained a dream.

Yeah, not really hoping to get my disk any time soon. I still haven't watched that early cut, though.

What I hope to see is creators doing something new and intriguing with the main concept, while being supported by a strong ensemble cast of diverse characters. What I don't want to see is a simplistic and light hearted rehash of "classic" story plots with barely developed just-like-old-times crew.

4/5 ⭐ to "The Templars: The Rise and Spectacular Fall of God's Holy Warriors" by Dan Jones Again, love Dan's writing, a lot of new details around rather well established facts. The part about very long and controversial trial was revealing and very relevant.

I'll make this my book review tread. 4/5 ⭐ to "Crusaders: The Epic History of the Wars for the Holy Lands" by Dan Jones Not a lot of new facts for me, but I like Jones's style and his talent to pack a lot of stuff in one book. The chapter on late mini-crusades was interesting.

Anyway, back to my point: That basically, there is no right way to get fans into Trek except making more series that connect with ppl in different ways & let ppl connect w the franchise on their own terms

Finally got my hands on Star Trek Picard "Firewall" by @davidmack.bsky.social Mack rarely disappoints, so I'm looking forward to another chapter of Seven's story. Also it's been quite a while, since I've read a physical Star Trek book 😁

This is the first autumn in 5 years without new episodes of #StarTrekLowerDecks.😢 Man, I really miss the show!!! It always made me laugh (I need that now!) and it had the deepest and most outrageous callbacks. Plus: it showed that it IS totally okay to talk about chairs on starships - I feel heard!

Oh yes! Even if it's not fair to compare novels and tv shows, in my head The Last Best Hope stands head and shoulders above S03 (which I liked).

Rest in peace, Drew Struzan. His movie posters are much more than marketing. They're some of the finest pop art you'll ever see. Look at this masterpiece:

Yes, I agree. And they have their demographics and target audience. But somehow this just rubs me wrong, gets me out of setting. I really hope that we'll not see a lot of this stuff in the show.

Right now I like almost everything that was shown in trailers. What I didn't care about are those "contemporary US university" esthetics they were projecting on early promos. "Branded" sweatshirts with logos, small university flags, even the font on early logo was very generic US college style.
