This is pretty dire and short sighted. And given that a lot of the foreign aid funds had been diverted to UK universities to fund research, it might mean another catastrophic blow to university funding. But if it's front line work in desperately needy places, we can expect more refugees, right?

Utterly shameful - a sickening betrayal of some of the poorest people. And counterproductive too - as if global security isn’t also dependent on efforts to tackle the climate crisis, global poverty, inequality, and humanitarian needs.

I'm sure this focus-grouped very well. Kicking poor people often does. More than a decade of Blair's & Brown's work on development gone just like that. Mind you, they'd already hollowed out the definition of aid so much that these numbers don't mean much anyway. www.bbc.co.uk/news/live/c4...

Hugely important 🧵 by @chrischirp.bsky.social It’s easy to think that there is little resistance to the coup but that’s not so. That’s what they want us to think. But it’s not true.

A generation at risk: Food crises in Gaza and elsewhere put millions of children in danger of lifelong harm
A surge in the flow of aid into the Gaza Strip since the truce between Israel and Hamas took effect on Jan. 19 is likely to ease the acute food emergency afflicting people in the war-ravaged territory, especially its children. But even after relief reaches them, the hunger they have endured could cast a shadow over their health for years to come.
