Good morning beautiful people Today is a great day to follow your curiosity and make art. It doesn't need to be perfect, it just needs to be authentic.

I play live a fair bit. But the live versions of my songs are very different - just vocals and a guitar. I also usually finish with a cover of Frozen by Madonna. You can hear all of this on my live album. It's name your price too. eleanorcollides.bandcamp.com/album/rising...

It's also decimating organic search results. The AI overviews take up so much space. Then you have so many sponsored results, which leaves almost no space for actual organic results.

Exit Strategies is my best work to date. I am proud of every one of these 12 songs, but there's one or two that are pure once-in-a-lifetime, capturing lighting in a bottle sorta level.

Think I just finished my first ambient piece. It's peaceful, but also tense and creepy. Like you're somewhere familiar, but you can feel something is watching you. You know something isn't right. That's what it makes me feel.

Eleanor Collides @eleanorcollides.bsky.social · 21/05/2025

Been messing around with samples and field recordings today. It's loads of fun making all kinds of creepy weird noises. I'm now considering starting an experimental ambient side project.

Eleanor Collides @eleanorcollides.bsky.social · 20/05/2025

Playing my songs live as a solo performer is an interesting challenge. So far I've relied on minimal guitar + vocal arrangements and lots of delay and reverb. I'm thinking of adding in ambient samples, a la Grouper. Maybe with a Volca Sample or similar

I've released two albums, a live album and an ep since I started this thing in 2021 (all available on Bandcamp). I'm currently writing my third album which is heading in a folk/slowcore direction. (join the mailing list if you wanna hear some demos). Thank you for being here 🫂

Thought it was time I re-introduced myself. I'm Nick. Eleanor Collides is my solo project. I write (mostly) sad songs on guitar, kinda goth meets shoegaze meets folk with an indie-rock hat on.

For me, AI generated cover art always looks lazy. It puts me off wanting to listen to your music. I'm not part of the anti-AI brigade but, ethics aside, it just never looks that good.

I hate it when you sign up for a free webinar or workshop, hoping to learn something and it's basically a sales pitch with zero useful information. I get that they're doing it to get my email and maybe sell me something, but you have to provide some actual value.

One of my favourite things about promoting a Spotify playlist with Meta ads: Seeing artists whose work I really enjoy go from basically none to a few hundred monthly listeners. Seeing your playlist as the top result in their discovered on section is nice as well.

Eleanor Collides @eleanorcollides.bsky.social · 14/05/2025

There is no right or wrong when making music (despite what YouTube tells you) - just choices. Developing as an artist is becoming bolder with your choices and learning to defend them. Rejecting the paradigm when the music needs it is a sign of maturity I think.
