I can't and don't generally judge acting in movies. I'm very story-focused, so as long as the acting isn't so bad that it distracts from the narrative it gets a pass That being said, Dafne Keen in Whistle wasn't really pulling off whatever she was trying to do. Still a good movie, though.

000

Yes, I'm getting caught up on my horror movies. Apparently I've missed a few. Or a lot.

000

The horror movie "Whistle" was good. Its like Final Destination but Death takes a more active, visible role haunting its victims. Nick Frost barely had a cameo-level appearance, which I thought was a waste, but otherwise I was entertained. One stand-out gore scene in particular made me smile.

Can confirm that We Bury the Dead is 99.0% boring-ass drama. Not sure what I want to call the other 1% since I don't want to use the word "horror" for this sham.

000

I wish I could just sit here and make spooky music and be able to pay my bills, but the world says no. So, naturally, the rational reaction to that is an overwhelming desire to burn the world to the ground and piss on the ashes. Or maybe that's just me.

Cold Storage was a predictable but quite fun horror/comedy.

I was probing an AI chatbot about its own nature and how could humans not fully understand how it work and it said that we (humans) are... direct quote... "black boxes studying a black box". And that, my friends, is scary as fuck.

The sound of Pennywise's deadlights will go down as one of the most memorable sounds in cinema. Up there with lightsabers, T-Rex roars, and Martian war machine death rays. I'm not even a sound designer and I'm jealous af. youtube.com/shorts/CNEwQ...

Not that anyone noticed, but I forgot to upload my latest track to @bandcamp.com until last night. It's been on streaming services for about a week already, which is the opposite of how it's supposed to go. ANYWAY, here is is: icondark.bandcamp.com/track/this-w...

The more I use AI for minor tasks, the more concerned I am about people and companies that use it for anything even remotely important. And this is from someone who is very pro-technology.

I just finished watching A-Frame. It was kind of slow and there wasn't nearly enough body horror. But it was still good. That scream at the end... worth it. #horror

The two alternate mixes are definitely the superior versions. They're more true to the dawning apocalyptic vibe. icondark.bandcamp.com/album/the-en... #NewMusic

So apparently I'm the only person on the planet that enjoyed Alien: Earth. It had its issues, but people are dunking on it like it was hot garbage and it wasn't.

I thought I was done making music for the year. I thought that TWICE since August. ...anyway, new track releasing Friday. No, not a track I finished months ago and delayed releasing for marketing reasons (that one is NEXT week), this is one I literally finished yesterday.

"Good Boy" wasn't as fun as I hoped it would be. It was good, but too slow and it veered too close to the "trauma masquerading as horror" trope that I abhor. There IS an actual entity at work, but it's clear the moviemakers were trying for emotions other than fear.

Well, Welcome to Derry was a bit of a slow burn- -NOT! This show was off the chain! It is Not. Fucking. Around. I honestly don't know where they're gonna go after that first episode. But I'm 1000% in.

000

It doesn't matter if, in real life, it's not possible to remove someone's eye and use it to bypass a retinal scan. All that matters to me is if someone THINKS it's possible.

000

If you are ALWAYS experiencing "higher than normal call volume" then that's just the normal call volume and maybe you need to either: 1) Fix Your Shit. Or, B) Hire more people.

000

Am I going to be dropping any MORE tracks before October 31st? ...not likely. But not impossible, either.

000

The number of songs I've dropped this Halloween season is ridiculous. Especially considering that back in August I said (to myself) that I was done for the year.

000

New Single Dropping soon! ....and by soon, I mean RIGHT FUCKING NOW! icondark.bandcamp.com/album/seven-... One track. Three versions. Only one of which is hitting streaming services around midnight-ish. #Halloween
