A multicriteria analysis of meat and milk alternatives from nutritional, health, environmental, and cost perspectives, Proc. Springmann+ doi.org/10.1073/pnas... "unprocessed plant-based foods such as soybeans, peas, and beans are best suited for replacing meat and dairy in high-income countries"
Multicriteria analysis of meat and milk alternatives. The analysis displays the synthesis scores of a food product’s overall performance in replacing meat or dairy per calorie (A) or per serving (B). The score is based on the nutritional, health, environmental, and cost changes of replacing meat and dairy with meat and milk alternatives. It gives equal weight to health, environmental, and cost impacts. The health domain includes the nutritional and mortality analyses with equal weights. The environmental domain includes analyses of changes in GHG emissions, land use, and water use, with weights assigned based on the needed contribution of dietary changes toward staying within food-related environmental limits (or planetary boundaries), which meant assigning a greater weight to changes in GHG emissions (0.65) than changes in land use (0.17) and water use (0.18).

2024 is the 170th anniversary of the most famous public health story, John Snow and his map of cholera cases in Soho. You’ve likely heard how he heroically traced an epidemic to a single water source: the broad street pump. But that’s not how the story really ended… #histmed #medicalhistory #medsky

Title: New year’s Resolution
Panel 1: A figure sits at a desk composing a note which reads “This year I will devote myself to reading serious literature, forsaking easy pleasures and tirelessly seeking out truth and profundity in the work of the greatest writers”
Panels 2-5: The writer looks at the note then scratches out various portions.
Panel 6: Most of the note has been scribbled out leaving only the following words: “This year I will… read… for… fun”
