Sharing some top-level Phillies analysis with my dad, as you do
A text exchange with Dad suggesting the Phils should stop giving up runs and score more runs. Dad replies this is like Mattingly saying they need to play better baseball. In other words I could be manager

During the Olympics my social media was flooded with content and jokes about how all the events are just death-defying feats on ice and like...I REALLY hope you're all appreciating that the Paralympics are the same thing but on one leg or in a chair on one ski controlled with your abs and arms

I AM willing to concede that the first time they did the revenge thing, in Goldeneye, it's really REALLY good, so I suppose they're always chasing that high. But you can't keep going back to that well over and over it's so boring.

I'm barely on this platform and not on Twitter at all anymore but evidently one thing you cannot stop me from posting is threads no one asked for about James Bond because it's the one thing I feel bad bothering irl friends with.

Emily Jones @ejreports.bsky.social · 04/02/2026
It's so interesting and so frustrating that from Goldeneye on they've so often decided villains need some additional driving motivation besides just like, making a a whole bunch of money because they super love making money? That's what Bond villainy is all about, man.
100
Emily Jones @ejreports.bsky.social · 04/02/2026
Obviously I am now watching all the Bonds that feature skiing, in preparation for the Olympics. Elektra King is so close to greatness: obsessed with her money, deeply megalomaniacal, so turned on by torturing and killing people. But wanting revenge on M is so tiresome.

Emily Jones @ejreports.bsky.social · 04/02/2026
The purest motive for a James Bond villain is profit. All other options are inferior. Sadistic delight enhances and elevates a profit motive. Revenge cheapens it.

That I don't know! It looks like it. I really like that one on the sweatshirt. I'm also into the fact of the gender-neutral cozy skirts but feel like they could be ANYTHING but a photo of an eagle lol

I kinda like the black on black but not so much the black on red? My friend also acknowledged that "the maple leaf is hard to make stylish" though I think the puffer coats pull that off!

WAIT wait wait ok so US athletes also get a Nike haul (we are doing too much) and it's mostly just puffer jackets and this one cool embroidered eagle (left) and then also, well...

Great Britain fell victim to (chose) the Adidas route so most of their stuff is an admittedly nice blue shade of the same apparel half a dozen other countries have. But check out these sweaters!

Pre-Olympics PSA: For Your Eyes Only is partially set (and filmed) at Cortina D'Ampezzo. While it's a thoroughly middling Bond, it makes excellent, unusually extensive use of the Olympic facilities there! And it's currently on Netflix.
