Dissolves have their place, but they have a language - to give a dreamy feel, or show a passage of time, or blend to images visually - that’s their power. To use them without purpose as a lazy solution to a cut that isn’t working? That’s when I hate them. “Dissolve when you can’t resolve.”

Look at the kindness and grace coming from director Paul Feig calmly explaining the filmmaking process to a bozo who cynically spread disinformation about Paul’s movie, then the bozo doubled down on his false claims after Paul personally corrected him. I wish I had this kind of patience.
My friend, it’s called post production, which generally takes over half a year at least when you factor in editing, scoring, special effects, sound mixing, close captioning and all the technical quality control that has to be done. Our post schedule always had us finishing everything by mid-January. Movies don’t come out the second they’re finished because the studio spends the previous year deciding the best date to release it. We’ve always planned on something in the spring/summer of this year. That’s how movies work. I hope this helps.

Black box with white text. Text reads: "1 you grate the ginger, 2 you grease the pan, 3 you slowly roll the dough, and 4 you bake the man"

If you're unsure why this is funny, it helps to really emphasize each syllable in your head as you read it.

Much of the film takes place in a TV studio, which production design ensured had actual working equipment - live feeds, vision switching, real moviolas - would have been quite a feat, but ensured a real sense of authenticity. #postchat #postsky
